Limited budget: Essentials by L-Rose Designs Costuming?

I am on a limited budget and look at L-Rose Designs Costumes. I can use some information on what material and cut is to be favored and for what reason. Concern for material can be from what is for both winter and summer, what is comfortable to wear, what can be scratchy or unflattering. Thank you for information!

You can't go wrong with L Rose. They are very easy to work with and concerned with making you happy.

I usually wear the jazz pants when I teach-which means they get worn and washed a lot. I don't care for cotton Lycra as a personal choice, so most of what I have is luxury velvet with some crushed velvet. They do get hot, but not unbearably so. The fabric holds up very well. The only issue I have had has been on the knees with floor work, but that has to be expected.
My students have bought the troupe set dozens of times. Over many, many orders, we have had two issues. One, the chiffon tore on a skirt, but i think the dancer did it doing something strange. Another was a construction isse that was corrected immediately.

They will send you color swatches and they have suggested color matches on line.

    Go with them!

Also, be sure to take accurate measurements. If you get a trumpet skirt, give them the lower hip measurement. For circle skirts, you will get a lot of extra elastic-that confuses some people. They do that so easy adjustments for the customer. I recommend measuring, cutting, and sewing it.

I love LRose, but in our student group we have had a recurring problem with the fit of the sleeves/shoulder/arm scye. The issue is especially bad when tops are ordered for large busted dancers. It's like it the patterns are not scaled up properly, so by the time the bustline fits, the shoulders are big enough for football players. I wish they would request some type of shoulder width measurement along with the bustline measurements.

My whole student troupe is outfitted in L. Rose.

We all have the trumpet skirt, in a variety of colors. It is the only style I've seen that's flattering on EVERY body type. We've had them for years and never get tired of wearing them, and continue to get compliments on them.

We chose the Nylon Lycra fabric because we thought velvet might be too hot for outdoor gigs in our St. Louis summers. The colors are so vivid and brilliant! They tend to wrinkle if they're not packed carefully, that's the only downside. I've tossed mine in the washer numerous times and it always comes out looking like brand new.

We also have gauntlets for our arms, love them. And many of us have U-tops and headbands as well.

I love L Rose. Their trumpet skirts are my favorite. I also own their pinched front banded top and have had several pairs of jazz pants. I usually go with velvet. The only thing I don't recommend from them is their circle skirts. They don't hang them before hemming and as soon as you wear it, the hem will be uneven. Other than that, everything else is fantastic.

I love L Rose. I have about 10 trumpet skirts in metalskin & velvet. Jazz pants in metalskin and cotton lycra, a beledi dress, chiffon skirts, silk veils, a few half tops and chiffon arm drapes.
I am not bragging but admitting to an addiction!!
The trumpet skirts need to be a bit longer than your chiffon or satin skirt measurement as your booty curves will take up some of the length.

Thank you very much for the informative answers!

I may want to specify: I am definitely looking into L-Rose Designs trousers, pinched sleeveless dance tops, U-tops at this point. So I am glad some of you mentioned these are good. The fabric will be hard to decide for me, though. Torn between Lycra and Velvet.

You made me very, very interested in Trumpet skirts! I may have to take them into consideration, too.

Regarding dance trousers: Which cut do you have or recommend for practice?
Has anyone tried laced-up dance trousers or skirts? I like the look but also consider something more practically oriented.

Wow! This collection of yours sounds good!

I am curious as to what Trumpet Skirts and Jazz Pants in Metalskin look like. Do you mind sharing a photo? How do you like the Cotton Lycra? Is your beledi dress made from Velvet?
    Thank you very much.
