I've lent my more rugged gypsy wear to people I knew very well, but I always offered and was with them when it was in use. I can't imagine someone asking to borrow a $800 sparkly to wear to a party! If people had any idea how much we pay for, care for, and deeply treasure our costumes they would never ask this of us! I liken it to the way Mineko Iwasaki talks about kimono in her book "Geisha, a Life". Seeing a kimono flawed in any way could put tears in her eyes. They are a piece of ART just like our costumes!
