    Unique Costume Concepts for Bellydancing

I love costumes. It's no lie. I know many of you also like costumes!Lord knows I have a costume inspiration folder filled to the brim. So I figured I'd share a few of my favorite images! And see what images you might have!

I like the bedlah, I do. I'm making several right now. But I also like looking at the alternatives: Gwazhee coats, harem pants, baladi dresses, ASSUIT DRESSES (Oh how I adore you!). One of my favorite dancers is Nesrin Topkapi - I love this sort of draped robe/shawl she wears. Has anyone seen anyone else wear something similar? I've been thinking about making one (Pretty and rather modest for those who are very, very self conscious).

I also love Soheir Zaki's style of costuming. Granted, it's not that unique to use a bellycover/bodystocking, and I've seen other pictures of hers where she's dressed in other styles, but the co-ordinating colors are really striking.

Something that I see in many photos from the 70's are the ways women wore their veils. Granted, it's not so much a unique thing to do, but there are some cases where it's just beautiful.

And of course, I adore the Mata Hari/Salomes of the 19th/Early 20th, all decked out in pearls.

Lately, I've been searching for images from 60s sword and sandals epics. You can't look at Delilah in Samson and Delilah and not see a potential for costumes - or any of the Debra Paget/Anne Baxter from Ten Commandments and other types of films?

So share your favorite images, and chime in on unique stylings in bellydance costumes.

Have you seen this thread? I think some of the early links are broken now, but the later pages should still be okay.

I just had a costume concept last night. It's inspired by this video which is a clip of a "belly dancer" from an old Brit show called "On the Buses". I can't find any pictures of it so you have to forward to about 5:30 in the video.

Her costume looks like it's covered in little bells and I just love it! I'm already brainstorming how I can do it myself. I'm thinking a metallic brocade fabric base, then clusters of bells. Lots of them. Oh how my fingers will hate me.
