Thread: Going crazy on a prop hunt!

Hello Bhuzzers!
I need new props!! After a year-long hiatus from performing, I am back and ready to go. However, my selection of props is sadly lacking. So I came over here to get opinions on what you guys think the best ones are. I'm especially looking for veils (rectangular and half circle, especially silks), fan-veils, isis wings, and swords. Which companies offer the best quality? Best price? Prettiest? Special orders? I'm looking to match props with costumes I already have (And maybe pick up some new ones along the way! ;))

Hi, I have a Shibori Borealis half-circle silk veil, multi colored, unused. paid $80, selling for $50.

Also have two vintage canes with beads and palettes on them, one is green the other is yellow. Purchased for $70 each, selling for $50 each.

Have you considered doing a double veil?

Agreed! Those butterfly wings are amazing!

Etsy and ebay are great places to look for fan veils. The ebay ones are inexpensive and made in china, but they are pretty nice and look great on stage for the cost. If you want some more intricate silk designs on them or better quality, do an etsy search. There are many sellers who have some beautiful fan veils available and you'll be supporting small business if you buy from one of them.

Kult of Athena has a great selection of swords balanced for dance. Here is a link to their middle eastern section: Swords They are durable and affordable. I personally like and use the balady scimitar, but there are other nice ones on there too in different price ranges. The "Hanwei" is also a good choice. It balances like the "Balady" but is longer and a bit bigger... great for shows where you'll be far away from the audience. I'm thinking about getting 2 of them for a double sword performance.
