what problems do you, the dancer, face when buying a made to order item
be it costume or shoes or what not I'd love feedback on this..I'm branching into a side project called Jeminai where I am partnering up with a friend to offer made to order items ..various princess sleeve tops, capes, plus size items , renaissance style dressing..
I understand that communication and a good estimate on shipping time is necessary (but **** happens and sometimes due to weather dyeing schedules get thrown off)
what other pitfalls have you experienced when you have had made to order items? (I'd especially like feedback on items you ordered that are HAND MADE by the artist because this falls into a different category then say a drop shipper who imports ready made items )
thank you!

Oooh! I LOVE that cape!
I think communication and timeliness are key. With weather effecting dyeing you'll have to state that upfront and make sure it's really clear.
You're great with those things, though.
Hmmm... so, maybe I'm not really offering any help... except I can't wait to see what you two come up with! Sounds exciting. :)

Sweet! Love the cape!
To be perfectly honest, the only problem I've ever, ever had with a SO is something that is not really anything the vendor could control: shipping. I would personally only ship insured with a tracking number.
I've had orders delayed, but as long as there is clear communication, I've been fine with that. In every case, I was impressed with the quality, to the point of the item being better than expected (including some of your gorgeous veils!) but then again, I've only SO-ed from people with good reputation, which you definitely have!

Again your feedback is priceless. I've never ordered a made to order costume from any of the vendors yet (too impatient :) but yes, what I've seen as common concerns from customers are : delays in shipping , lack of communication, and poor quality arriving
I will be using fed ex which costs more than first class mail but has the tracking. I worked out a deal with the 'lower' 48 states (not sure why they call it the lower 48 since Alaska is way up there and hawaii is way OUT here lol)
Despite the full time nurse job I will be checking email at least twice a day.
There will be full descriptions (and disclaimer as necessary) about the item, possible shipping delays due to bad weather, and actual color of the item as it appears on the monitor. I've already seen the quality of items in person and am very impressed but I'd also offer an exchange or refund to anything that showed up that was under par or not disclosed as an oops .
Gonna start small and ease into it i have a feeling if I light the fire it will blaze faster than I can maintain it..I'm staying with my nursing job for now as I have a special project at work that I'm hoping to get approved
again thanks for the comments..I learn best from you all. btw that cape is velvet :)

We are louder and more obnoxious than you, and we just forgot another state was added after us.
At least you don't have to get all hot & bothered when someone says "continental" instead of "contiguous" and then tries to get out of shipping to your state.
Believe me, I noticed!
