Thread: Source for flared dance pants, XL or custom?

I loved the well-fitting flares in fun fabrics made by Brandy at Tribal Evolution, but unfortunately she seems to have stopped selling them. Can you suggest any favorite sources other than the usual suspects (Sharifwear, Dahlal, L. Rose)? Bonus points if they're reasonably priced, not super-slim through the thigh, and can take a beating. Many thanks in advance!

Willow at Crimson Gypsie- she's a little pricey compared to others- but the quality of work is great- and she is a really nice person and a talented dancer to boot ;)

The XL pants I just received from BDSS surpriseingly fit me nicely.

I second Geisha Moth. She custom-made me a simple pair of black crushed velvet flare pants a few years ago. Fit exactly how I wanted them to. I don't recall the exact price, but they seemed to be in line with other makers at the time, and they were custom. These were not listed for sale on her website, but she offered them as an option when I contacted her about costuming.

MagidahWear has sold the business but it looks like it will be up and running with a new crew in a bit.

I have heard good things about Magidah's pants but the same people said they will "grow" during a long day of workshops.

If you know any of the Southern MD Troupe 'Hip'notic ladies, ask them about Crimson Gypsy. She did the teal halter tops they got for their funk piece, and not sure if they have pants experience too. I'm eyeing some of her dresses as street wear.

My troupemates are fans of Melodias but say the new fabrics are not as tough nor the pants as well constructed as in the past.

ETA: Ask Latifa about her L Rose pants, I think she said she likes them though the color was not what she expected. I got a top from there, the long line choli bra, and it is very well made and the velvet is nice and thick.

Tempest used Willow/Crimson Gypsy for her video- the little flared capris and tops. And Shushanna on here has the halter dress of her's- every time I see her in it I vow to go purchase one.

Tempest was super happy with the fit and finish of the pants she got. I can't find video up though- hurumph.

Shimmy Sista (Glenna) is one of Tiraz's favorite vendors. She always comes to the conventions. She advertises that she is a plus size store, but she has all sizes. She is super sweet and has beautiful merchandise.

I have the desert dancer ones and I LOVE them. They're very affordable, too, compared to the melodia's and anything fro dahlal. They also come in lots of sizes (I'm an xl, so I feel your pain in finding sizes to fit!) . They're pretty high quality, I've been wearing mine about once a week for about 6 years, and they're just now staring to wear out, I've never even had Jeans last that long :D I'll definitely buy another pair when this one gives out :D I also have a friend who ordered the really cheap chinese ones off of ebay (search belly dance pants), but their sizes are much more limited, and the quality's pretty shaky.

I give desert dancer 5 stars though!!!

I second Red Hot Dancewear.... Sarin is part of my original Belly Dance Family in Houston, TX and she makes great practicewear.... custom sizes are no problem.....
