What are you working on in November 2011?

I've been working on a new costume, the Fab Crazy Floral. I got the basic construction done a few days ago, and I've been waiting on some jewels to come through the post, so that I could get going on decoration.

Here is the basic bra & skirt:

Now here are the crystals that just arrived from the States:

They're *perfect*- big, shiny and pink! I'm going to be adding these to the costume, along with black edging and (I think- but I reserve the right to change my mind!) black bead swags.

So that's what I'm working on in November...

You have got to be kidding me! It can't be November yet **panic, panic!**
I've got Christmas stockings to sew! They're supposed to be done before Thanksgiving and I've only had the fabric for <<counting>> 6 months? that can't be right! Argh!

    [Hi Ezma,
What are you using to paint the balls with please. I have a costume that needs this doing to it but have been a bit afraid of having a go at it.

I went to the hobby store…it is metallic model paint (for things like model airplanes, trains and cars). You need paint thinner to clean your brush inbetween painting times. It takes a long time to complete the project as you can't really paint all the balls at once, but can paint one "side," letting the item sit on newspaper overnight, then CHECK to make sure the paint has dried, and start on the other side. Then I check them a third time to make sure they are perfect.

The brand I'm using is "Testors," and comes in very small glass bottles (so does the thinner). I tried using "metalflake," but that covered nothing (like clear varnish with some metallic flakes). I ended up using their basic silver, covers well.

    good luck with your project!

Re: What are you working on in November 2011?

Painting the Noussa balls sounds crazy! But it is really expensive to buy metallic beads like that that won't chip paint. I believe the really good ones come from Japan.
I just finished a costume for a bhuzzer. Now that I am out of newborn baby land and have officially moved I am cranking all kinds of things out that are majorly late! It has been the craziest year!
This one was from supplies she had been collecting forever and I had to pull it together. The theme was blue and poofy. I really like the wall of shorter fringe along the bottom of the gathered mermaid top. I'm going to do that again for sure.

I am working on a costume now. I had Eshta do the base since I have the twins, I have less time. LOL! But it is coming along nicely. I have the bra almost finished, just need to add sequins to the straps. I am working on the belt now. I am also making my own fringe. I will add a pic soon.

I've been working my way through my personal and donated fabric stash to get more projects done before the move. Pictures of some fun stuff to come, but for now here's a simple dress I just put up on etsy.

Well this was technically October. I had to take some time from belly dance sewing to make my grandchildren’s Halloween costume. The blue ribbon is my grandson and the pink is my granddaughter. Hope you don’t mind.

Now it is back to adjusting hooks, shortening skirts, and on and on.... too much to do.

Re: What are you working on in November 2011?

I also devoted Oct. to making a Halloween costume for my Kozlet
    howlcalcifer.jpg
He's Howl Jenkins from the book Howl's Moving Castle, and that's Mr. Koz behind him made up as Calcifer the Fire Demon.

And, I am never, ever, EVER sewing holographic fabric again!!! What a nightmare!

This month I am going to try covering a bra for the first time. I have some really delicious teal satin that has been waiting for a long time to be turned into something pretty.

Spent the other day fussing with this i have the mirrors just sitting on there and i like the tiny red chain but i am just not sure where to go with it
... I guess finish the other side before i settle on my embellishments. The placement of the black is not what i wanted but I think I like it anyway.

LOL no- I'm sitting still- doing nothing but sewing... I do inspections on job sites- and sometimes I have to sit and watch them for hours just sitting... sometimes I have quick hide stuff so they don't walk up to my truck and go- "is that a bra?"

LMAO- one of the perkes of being an inspector- I just sit around all day.

Re: What are you working on in November 2011?

First time posting here! I just made this
    ice paisley1.jpg

The chunky, irregular glass beads in the centre pushed the edge beads a bit out of shape. I'm still not sure if I love it. Up close, it looks like ice, but I am concerned that from a distance it's just going to look like a teardrop with a nipple.

If I keep it, it's going to be an applique to add to a vintage silver bra (which is why I wanted to keep it all clear/silver, to maintain maximum versatility). Now i just have to make another symmetrical one...

I have apparently stonewalled on the red/black costume- not happy- I wanted to finish it up by Saturday.

So I stareted some modified bloomer pants last night- pretty happy with them- I picked up a pair of capris pants at ye ol'e targe' and started in on four layers of ruffle- silver gray- black- gray/blackish chiffon and a black lace for the top.

They won't be nearly as fabulous as GM or K.Crowley or anyone else's but they will do for the time being and I'll be happy to have some flirty capris. Pictures to follow.

Just started this in my post-nightshift insomnia

    White swan inspired costume.

Finished one cup, plan to make a full skirt of feathers as I ordered ALOT of feathers
The skirt will be sahar style with a high slit and feature swarovskis on one hip of the skirt and most likely the center of the bra cups.
