Thread: The girdle-like fishnet bodystockings are possible again!

I just updated my DIY fishnet bodystocking article to reflect the fact that I found a source, at least temporarily, for the Danskin professional weight fishnets!

The Danskin professional fishnets are 32% lycra, so they firm & tone & hold everything in like a girdle. Bodystockings made from them are da bomb, MUCH more firming and toning than any pre-made stockings I've found on the market.

But they've been discontinued and are VERY hard to find. I just ordered several pairs from the Amazon link, hopefully I can make a stockpile of bodystockings to last the rest of my dance career.

Question: If you've purchased more than one tone, can you provide any insight into the differences between the Suntan, Light Toast and Classic Toast? On my computer I cannot tell which tone is darker, whether the suntan is more orange than the toast, etc. (plus it shows just 2 of those 3).

IIRC, the suntan was similar in depth to the dark toast, but had more of a deep coppery cast to it, so yes, a little on the orange side. Because of the open weave of the fishnet, though, I found that I could wear the much darker shade even on my fair skin. I am probably wearing Suntan in the pics with the costume on, but it looks like the one I show in the illustrations might be dark toast? I'm very fair, so the light toast pretty much disappears on my skin altogether.

What about sizing? on the Danskin website the size charts don't even include my weight. will the size C/D fit someone over 180 lbs?

I got it too! I'm depressed now.

I'll need to change my website ASAP & remove the link.

I'm a little angry at Amazon, frankly. Why were they still offering a discontinued item if they didn't have any in stock? I just checked & it will still let me put some of my original size/color combos in my cart (though some show up as unavailable now).

In other news, I got an e-mail from the maker of Flamenco Diva bodystockings -- she said if we can find a source for the superpower 32% lycra fishnet, she would offer the stockings!!! So if you spot a source, pass it on!

I just received an e-mail from Amazon saying my fishnet stockings were shipping early....I ordered Suntan size C/D. So they still have some stockings just not all sizes and colors.

OH! It looks like they may have updated the site with better info on what they have in stock. I just tried placing my order again from this page, one XLong and one CD in suntan, we'll see what ships. Looks like no more light toast... oh well

Mine shipped too! The new page seems up to date with what's in stock! I got a C/D and an XLong, both in Suntan. YIPEEEEE!!!!

P.S. -It feels really weird to spend $78 on three pairs of tights that I will cut. However, I know premade bodystockings cost the same or more in most cases.

Did I ever tell you about the time I bought a pair of these and then promptly ruined them? Ugh, I kept on cutting the leg holes to get them to the right length. Until I cut them too much! I cut the crotch right out by accident...Then, I tried to sew them back together. Then I gave up and sewed them onto a pair of panties, which were ill-fitting to begin with. So needless to say, I never really got to use my super-duper fishnets to their full-potential. I will be so glad to finally have a pair.

I just got word that mine shipped! WOOHOO! I got 2... just in case I have a problem... but for the price I'm going to be VERY careful cutting them.

Mine arrived on Wednesday. The Suntan color is really dark for me, but I think it will be okay with darker earth tones, coppers, browns. I am a size 14/16 and ordered the extra long size and it fits well. Everything that Lauren said about it!

When you cut them, leave the legs LONG at first, like bike shorts! They'll roll up and create mondo panty lines. After you've tried them on, you can always trim.

Generally I leave mine looking more like boyleg shorts than panties at the bottom (some leg below the crotch) because I've found that over time & with wear they keep getting shorter & shorter.

(and Andalee, I did that once myself. Just in too big a hurry with the cutting...)

Does anyone have a non-Amazon shop link to buy them from? I cancelled my Amazon account due to their refusal to charge/pay sales tax in California even though they have offices, workers and warehouses here. So if I can order from the retailer directly and not through their Amazon account, please let me know!

I may also try to hit up my local dance supply store about carrying or ordering these.

They're a discontinued product, even Danskin no longer carries them. I've looked at all the usual sources (dance supply companies, google shopping, e-bay) and Amazon seems to be the only place left that has any in stock -- but only a few colors & sizes are left. When they're gone they're gone.

Wow that's awesome! They even have the light toast color! (now I want to buy even more pairs).

They didn't have ANY on the site a few weeks ago. I wonder if they found a stash? Or *hope springs eternal* if they're bringing them back?

Mine came! Danskin Style 203.... but on the back it says they are 88%nylon 12% spandex.. is that right? Just making sure before I cut them.
