Show me your "stashbuster" costumes pretty please!

    Hello ladies!

I need to deal with my hoard of sequins, beads etc.

Not looking to copy anyones ideas, just wanting to see how you utilized makIng a costume with varying degrees of media.

I already have two ideas I am flipping back and forth between as a multi colored costume. One being a generic swirl pattern, one being a multicolored peacock eye motif

    Thanks!

I don't have one, but Malika, the Estonian costume designer who has just recently started posting on Bhuz as well, had a great idea of adding colour to a gold bedlah:

I am not sure if these are helpful inspirations, since you specifically mentioned sequins and beads; most of my stash busting is fabric stash.

The silver costume was a VERY early piece for me (and it shows!). The fabric was scraps leftover from when my teacher made a skirt. Yes, that is Christmas trim silver ribbon. And, I have learned a LOT about design since then -- the fringe on this one eats me alive, hiding my curves and creating suboptimal lines. I think I may remake this one with less fringe and a narrower, more flattering belt . . .

The multicolored one was also made from scraps. In this case, the same teacher had an "in" with a local theatre group, and they gave her GARBAGE bags full of scraps. She kept the pink version of this and gave me the jewel tone. Since the fabric was so elaborate, I held back -- a LOT -- on embellishments. The simple loop fringe hangs properly when worn; but, like me, it doesn't like to cooperate when photographed.

    Regards,

    AnalaVA

Before I went big with my costume making I purchased sequins and beads in small bags which always either ran out before the projects was finished or left me with small odd amounts of leftovers. Ive used them up in several ways, my favourite being "chunky" beadwork on costumes and accessories. I've used that method on the necklace below.

Ozma has a couple on her Ozma's Costumes Facebook Fanpage, but I'll leave it to her to point out exact threads/photo albums.

This isn't mine. A friend who makes costumes for other dancers, created this out of her stash:
Don't let the boobs distract you! Focus!

Like AnalaVA, most of my hoarding is fabric based, but I have lots of crystals in different sizes and shapes! I had a few scraps of this gorgeous sparkly nude stretch fabric left over from a dress (shown here) that I had made myself ages ago. I also had a few leftover large sew-on Swarovski crystals and random swarovski beads and glue ons. So I picked up several yards of nude chiffon to put this two piece together. The 2 piece is currently for sale through the Ammara Dance Studio under the title "Samia Gamal in nude" - Ammara Shop

    Hehe! Thank you!

Im busy with my yearly work room clean up (its taken a whole WEEK!) So there are a LOT of bits and pieces for stashbust costumes ready to be made.

If I got the extra pair of arms I asked Santa for Itd be a breeze! :D

Well this is Tribal not cabaret, but it is made totally out of my stash. I have since remade the top, but again using only things from my stash.
