Thread: Which pant do you find more comfortable - Melodias or Sharifwear?

Looking to buy a black pair of practice/fusion pants. Sharifwear is having a sale with free shipping, but how do they fit? Do they run small or large? Same questions with Melodia's.

I love Melodias, very very comfortable!

Sharifwear, I find variable, it very much depends on which style you're getting. For example, I have practically no measurable upper/lower hip differential, so anything that doesn't have elastic in the "waistband" is useless for me- it just slips down!

My experience with Melodias is that they run a little small--look at her sizing chart and if you are on the border between two sizes, size up. You can always shrink them a little in the dryer if needed.

Sharifwear I have found a bit variable in the sizing and especially the length. I'm a US 8 and I have medium and larges that fit equally well. Sharifwear tend to be non-cotton fabrics, so that may be a factor in how comfortable you find them.

In either case, be prepared to have to hem your pants.

You could also take a look around on etsy.com and search for dance pants--you'll find a lot of variations on those styles there, from vendors who mostly make their own wares and could answer sizing questions quickly and accurately.

I agree with the other posters on Sharifwear pants about the sizes..they are variable by style. I am 5'3" and they are always too long.Can't comment on Melodias as I don't have any. I do have some L Rose pants. They are custom made for you and are made well.

WaBella pants are also a super comfortable and very flattering practice/fusion pant> not sure about a link up to her site... Going to Rakkasah? (I've seen/bought from her there) These run true to size.
I know it's Melodia or Sharif- but that's my 2 cents

I have a pair of Sharifwear pants that I melted into the first time I tried them on, and which are just about my favorite pair of pants ever. But they fit me best at my natural waistline - if I wore them at the hip they'd be too long and saggy. The only Melodias I have are a MeloPhoenix graphic leaf print which I love, but are too dramatic to wear all the time. I always try on the regular Melodias when I see them at festivals but so far haven't found a pair I just have to have.

The only Sharifwear pants i can wear are the cotton/lycra ones. Their other all-synthetic fabrics don't agree with my body at all! That said, I do find their cotton tribal pants very comfy. They tend to run a bit larger.

I've had several pairs of Melodias. The compression on them is better (if you're trying to smooth things out), but there's a greater chance of muffin topping and/or waistband discomfort. That said, if you get ones that fit well, they're a dream.

the rise of the Sharifwear pants is always too high for me (and I do mean way too high).

Melo Phoenix pants are a thicker material than regular melos and will have less stretch to them, so order a bit bigger to avoid muffin toppage.

I have been very happy with both the rise and the fit of Desert Dancer pants and Dahlal "Off the Nile" offerings. (Both the Dendera pant and the memphite pants are well made and true to size.

I have the Dahlal Dendara pants. I like them. I ordered a pair of sharifwear pants from Beledi Boutique. We'll see how they fit.
