after a lot of going back and forth in my head, I've decided to keep my gold and silver blingaling (at least until I dance in it once to see how it works in performance) :) ... i'm installing hooks on the front of the belt to attach it to my body stocking to prevent slippage, and i've ordered more material to make a new skirt set.

thanks, ladies, for all your feedback! i'll post pics of the whole cossie once i finish the skirt.

my current project is a peacock blue and silver holo modern set with abla-style beading, color changing rhinestones, elvis-collar bolero jacket and funky headwear... with a surprise costume change in the middle. it's been a challenge to get all the elements to work well together and to please hubby (it's being made specifically for one of his private choreo's given to another french dancer)... but it's coming along. it should be done next month :)

i can't post pics before she performs in it at least once, but they'll definitely be posted as soon as i get the green light!

I'm gonna be the lonely voice, can you use purple as the base? unless it's my monitor, purple is the color of the accent beads and it would make it all pop.

Valentine costume coming good! Since the hafla's theme is retro, this year I decided to go a little crazy and start making a cute fascinator to match (we call it a "bibi" in French)



I use a kid's bunny hat from the dollar store to re-shape it use as a base and cover it with same the same costume's fabric.

After I posted the gold and red options, I did put a purple akai silk fabric underneath, but there is a very small amount of the bluey/purple and it didn't really work. If the amount of purple in the beading and fringe was more (like the amount of red/gold), it would have worked better. I might order a crushed purple velvet dress from L. Rose. Rehabbing is a journey, and the bra and belt might end up having much more of the iris purple color when I'm done. We shall see.
