    silly question re: Melos

In our experience, if you put Melos in the dryer, do they shrink lengthwise ?

I have a pair of MeloPhoenix that are too long, but I'm reluctant to hem them (motif) or take them in at the knee. Just wondering if one run in the drier might fix this without altering the width/sizing.

    Thanks!

yes, they will shrink. In my case, about 1.5". I don't know if this is usual, but that is what I found. Another way of taking them up at the knee is large safety pins. Makes them a little more goth!

They will get shorter. Also smaller all over.

Might sound strange but this might be worth considering. Wet the pants from the knee area down. Use a hair dryer to completely dry the area. Slow, yes. But it will allow you to focus on the area you want shortened and not shrink the overall fit. You might have to repeat the process if your hair dryer does not have high wattage.

I tried the pins thing but it came undone while rehearsing (plus, goth is not what I'm going for :) )

I had sewn some cords to cinch up on the sides, but didn't like the look of that either. I ended up wshing them in cold water and putting them in the dryer on medium. The length is now perfect and there's no noticeable shrinkage. Yay!
