Get the pattern from Gaylene. She's a wonderful woman and it's nice supporting the one who came up with the design.

I've used her pattern many times. The pants are "easy" to make but very time consuming. Easy as in, you only need to know how to make your machine do a zigzag stitch and sew in a fairly straight line... no fancy techniques. They are super full, so you don't really need to worry about sizes.

I took a class from Gaylene to learn how to make these (it was before she sold the pattern)--she told me that you need at least 25 yards of sequin trim to edge the ruffles!

    Re: Endless Wave Harems

If you want to avoid working with sequins and have some patience I have edged the wave panels with clear fishing line. Each wave ruffles and it makes them have adequate weight so I did not miss the sequins. If you match the sequins to the color of the waves you do not have to worry about silver or gold to match costumes. I rather prefer the fishing line application because it is so unique. For me, I prefer to sew the fishing line in-place prior to sewing the waves to the pants. Gaylene's design is made utilizing 60" wide non-sheer tricot fabric for each leg so they are extra full. Less fabric is OK but the fullness is the reason her designs are so rich and luxurious.

Sorry, didn't realize it was a dead link. I will contact her about it. I know the email is correct: lilegypt1@aol.com. Once I have more info I will post it. Not certain if she knows her website is inop.

Her website must have just gone down... it was up a month ago at least.

Here is a link to her facebook if you need to contact for purchase: Gaylene Dover | Facebook

I think she sells the patterns for 15 or 20 now.

I love endless wave pants but have always shied away from the tedium of making them. I do have a new serger...think that would speed up the process?

A serger could be utilized on the crotch and inner leg seams. Elastic casings, sequins and waves are attached with zigzag stitches. They are not difficult to make but they do take time. They are fun to make but I find them too labor intensive for me.

You can use a serger for everything except adding the trims (unless sergers do that now, but i've never used a new one so i don't know). A serger would definitely speed things up quite a bit.

Before I get the pattern, can you tell me if the "waves" are sewn inside open seams or sewn on top? meaning, will the pants legs look like strips before sewing the waves on or you end up sewing them on top.... Just judging how much work is needed. Thanks!!

    Re: Endless Wave Harems

I made a pair but I didn't use a special pattern. I used my regular harem pants pattern and the curved fin shape from a swirl skirt pattern (Simplicity has one). I used silk, black for the pants and green/blue swirls for the fins. I dyed the green/blue silk myself.

The fins use a surprising amount of fabric and it takes a long time to hem the edges. I imagine it would go a lot faster with a serger, but I pressed narrow hems along the fins and straight stitched them down. I did not use sequins because I wanted to keep the flowing quality of the silk. My first attempt I put the fin too far down on the leg. The top of the fin needs to be up near the crotch.

I love the pants, but I'm not anxious to tackle making another pair. In the pic, I'm on the far left. My troupe mates are wearing purchased ready made pants from ebay, they were reasonably priced and look just fine.

The pants legs are one solid piece. The fins are attached to the outside of the flat pant leg. After all the fins are attached, the pants are assembled.
