I am also working on purple bra and skirt for lovely Shereen, the fabric is two-way stretchy silk-like, very lightweight and hard to work with for me.
The bra is finished and now I am working on the skirt, there will be several inserts (godets) of different fabric and also two underskirts with fishline-hem to add fullness.
I will not decorate nor bead the costume.

So my wonderful mother-in-law got me a camera for the holidays. I've been able to take pictures of my costume items again and put them up on etsy.

Here's a dress I finished over half a year ago:

And a very full and fun petal skirt w/ leg openings:

And a custom set that I made for someone quite a while ago.

Nothing exciting but extremely necessary - I am going through all my costumes & repairing the little stuff, putting fresh elastic in both my zills & the zills I use to teach class

Re: What are you working on in February 2012

Just officially began the work on a costume I'm planning on making for charity. I plan on posting it on Bhuz and also see if there is interest locally.

The reason for the charity donation is my 3 1/2 year old neice who was diagnosed with surgical epilepsy approximately 2 years ago. Surgical epilepsy is when the brain has had a malformation and causes seizures. In her case it was in her pre-frontal cortex, and caused up to 50-70 visible seizures a day, while on EEG every 10 seconds.. She recently underwent surgery to remove this malformation, and has not had any seizures since, and has zero neurological defects! Such a blessing for our family. She is the youngest patient in Canada to have underwent this, and possibly the world.

Hence I will be donating the full amount this costume sells for to the Epilepsy Foundation.

It all started with a hand-me-down project, a cut up dress sewn onto a bra not suitable for costuming. Most of the appliqués that were made from the dress were secured with hot glue. They will not be usable but I'll be salvaging any beads and sequins that werent ruined and using them. Fortunately two large pieces have fit over the cups of the bra, so just some repair and fill work required. I sewed them onto a C/D Dina cup bra today. I also moved the cups closer together.

It's so satisfying taking completely broken/ unusable things and making them beautiful!
The photos don't even capture the potential of this one, its going to be so hard to not keep it for myself!

I've replaced all the rhinestone chain on the turquoise belt. I'm not re-enforcing some beads and replacing a few spots where they have been lost. It's getting closer : )

I know the feeling I try to keep my eyes open when I go lurking into thrifshops just in case I see something kitshy and sparkly ready to rebirth into a new cossie!

I'm still in love with the one I made for last October "haflaween" (see black and coral redo):

Last weekend I worked on a "draft project" of bra and belt set to show to our troupe director.

The basic color will be gold. The belts and bras will have loops strategicaly placed so lengths of colored chiffon can be drape to change de look of the costume. Just by changing the color and style of skirts and fabric draping, several interesting looks are possible.

Here are a few pics of the idea (that was accepted by everyone BTW ) Please don't look to close, this is a crapy draft that I made in a hurry, acrylic stones are only glued on, etc.

Qamar, that is one of the best ideas for troupe costuming that I've ever seen. Brilliant! It will be gorgeous on stage.

The quality of work in all these costumes is amazing! You all do fabulous work :) I especially love Qamar's creative ideas with the scarf, and the costume for charity. What a great idea. Oh, and the ridiculous amount of work put into the lovely red and blue cut-out bra.. oh and, oh well I love them all.

This month I'm working on costumes for two different troupes = 9 costumes in total. No pics yet, but once I get permission from all the the ladies to post I will put some up.

I finished this in november, but I didn't had graphic material of the costume finished until this month.
This was almost my first fully beaded bedlah proyect. It took me more than a year.
The bra being made is the atached picture (I'm trying to figure out how post it whithin the text).
And here is the final result. I didn't make the skirt, but I decorated it.

Now I'm working in a fire Bella-inspired costume to match my Akai fire skirt

Re: What are you working on in February 2012

I've been making a bunch of these in different colors. I call them Scheherazade pants... developed my own pattern after a ballet video from Scheherazade and a request from Rajaa, a dancer in France. I wish I had pics of the ones I made for her... used 4 yards of silk chiffon. They were super full. These are made from a silk veil and though not quite as full, are still fun.

Re: What are you working on in February 2012

Today for the first time I knocked over my muffin tin with eight different seed bead types/colors separated. It took me an hour to pick them up and put them back where they belong (working on a rehab shake and bake cossie). Then I went to the store and bought actual bead storage containers tops. But that's not why I'm posting here.

I have a bead size mystery bhuzzers can help be solve.

Need to determine what size seed bead "B" is in the picture. Seed bead "A" is size 8, "C" is size 10 and "D" is probably size 13. Therefore, what size is seed bead "B?"

Mystery bead "B" - I already tried to count how many beads there were in 1", which the internet tells me is a rough idea of how the bead size correlate to 1", but I counted 15 to 1" (okay there were a few super skinny ones). That can't be right cause I'm pretty sure "D" above is size 13.

    help!

One more question, I need to order "B" seed beads, and they appear to be brown iris, but I'm not sure that is right or what color they are actually called. The colors vary from metallic gold/brown/purple/green AB, but the overall feeling is a brown/root beer purple-ish color. They are opaque and not too uniform in size - my guess is czech. two pics first under incandescent (sp?) light, second pic under florescent bulb. what color are these seed beads?
