Bra construction in this month's Threads mag

The Feb/Mar issue of THREADS has an article on bra construction from scratch. While it involves making your own custom lingerie bra, many of the tips would apply to making costume bras as well. And there are also articles on coutre construction for the home sewer and on using boning. Pretty useful stuff.

Check the library- I read Threads there regularly. There seems to be a trend towards bra-making right now. www.bramakersupply.com has some of my favorite bra making books & tutorials, but I'll def. be checking out the Threads article the next time I make it into town for a library run.

The bra making article is an overview with some good fitting tips, fabric suggestions, resources (bra making supplies and some bra making blogs), illustrations of the steps involved. Not the same as covering an existing lingerie bra but something to useful resources if you find you need to start by making your own from scratch because of unavailabilty of cups in your size. And one of the tips dealt with assessing breast shape itself. All are not equal as we all know from Egyptian paperplate shaped bra cups.

Threads has had other articles on bra fitting, altering and construction. One of the best was about putting built in bras inside evening gowns and solving some issues for larger or softer breasts.
