    shamadan advice please!

My old shamadan fit fine, but was getting battered looking, so now I have a beautiful new one. I cannot seem to get it fit correctly tho! It was wobbling side to side and I added some extra padding, then all the padding that came with it, started to detach, and I'm not sure what to do. Has anyone replaced all the padding inside? if so, what did you use to glue in new padding?

The padding that comes with most Shemadans is cr@p. Use Dr. Scholl's "Mole Foam" - its a thin foam padding covered with "Mole Skin". You can get it at most drug stores, its self adhesive, stays stuck, wears like iron, and very sweat resistant. When it gets skutchy, you can peel it off and replace. Because its pretty stiff foam, it allows you to have a tight crown without wobble or discomfort.

Thanks! I will look into that. Does it show like the original padding?

Also was thinking of wearing it with a veil/drape covering the head and draping down back. Is it best to attach that, or just get it on each time you wear it?

I don't have any experience with this. I *did* line my crown with some pretty fabric which worked out well.

The veil or other head covering / scarf should probably be done each time you dance as opposed to made a semi - permanent part of the Shamadan. You wouldn't necessarily be able to estimate what clients are looking for. An, say, orange veil might go well with several colours, but there are several which it wouldn't. And chances are at some point, someone is going to ask for you to do Shamadan with one of those clashing colours.
