    Changing laces on hermes?

I really don't like wearing hermes but have a couple of outdoor performances (on plywood stages) coming up in the Spring. My hermes always come untied. Can the laces be switched out? If so with what?
Also are the Aruba ones better or more comfortable than the capezio? Mine are old and they are actually padded inside. They are comfortable other than those darn laces! They are Award brand which, I think, is no longer made.
Replace the shoes or just the laces?
    Advice, please??
    Thanks!

I find the same problem, the laces are awful! I changed my laces over to soft suede laces & like them much better - they do stay tied better. Hope that helps.

Ditch the laces and thread in elastic. I like the nice, soft, cotton coated elastic, which has the added benefit that it is super easy to dye them. I do a tea bath to dye mine so I don't have to deal with the glaring white, but you could really dye them any color. koolaid dying is my favorite for small projects where you don't want to do a whole vat's worth of projects.

Aruba's are soft deerskin - VERY comfortable!

    Disclaimer: I know Aruba personally.

I threw out the laces that came with my Hermes sandals right away because they were so stiff and crunchy. I just used the suede laces like ajaa suggested already. You can switch up the colors too as needed.

Another option for Hermes laces could be either satin rattail cord or satin ribbon. Either can be purchased in the "notions" section of a fabric store. Both are sold on spools and cut to whatever length you want to buy, so take an old lace out of the Hermes to the fabric store with you to use as a guideline for measuring out what you need.

i get thin gold cord at the craft store---the gold fades and looks sorta flesh-toned----blends in very well. I found out a few years ago that one of my friends always had trouble w/ hers coming off that i did a different way of tying that helped. Foot in, pull laces snug, CROSS the laces at the front of the ankle and then wrap around the ankle, tie a bow and tuck the bow and ends under the cord pieces wrapped around the ankle. I am the hermes queen, cause w/out them i usually screw up by one of my sweaty feet sticking to the floor and have a strained foot.

    Re: Changing laces on hermes?

I've done both silver and gold chording as well as black elastic on my black hermes, and both were better than the original laces. With the elastic I just sewed it so it basically became a slip on. If I were to do it now, I think I might try a combination of the two and get some metallic elastic chording, braid it if it is too thin and then sew it, so I can slip them on, then may add a little I could tie up the legs, just for looks, but the ties always fall down around my ankles anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I replaced the laces in mine with grosgrain ribbon.
