Thread: Decorating Shoes :-)

I got some really cute tan ballroom shoes. I like them but I feel like they need a little extra bling. I thought some nice rows of rhinestones would really be great, but I'm not sure what kind of rhinestones or how to go about sewing them on. They are leather uppers, shaped like this, but tan:

I'd glue rhinestones on. My ballroom coach used to do that, though I've yet to actually glam up a pair (it's on my wishlist, though). I've heard of people using E6000 or GemTac.

Not quite sure how successful sewing would be; I'm sure it would depend on the shoe construction and where/what decor you'd want to add.

E6000 recommended here There was a youtube video I saw once that had some neat tips for how to pick up the rhinestones... worth a search there.

I love that you're modifying your shoes, though, instead of just buying! I need to find gold shoe paint for one pair -- how come that's so hard to find in real-life stores now? My mom was surprised because she used to paint her shoes, but the stores now don't carry quality paints... off-topic rant.

A friend of mine uses floral craft paint from Pat Catans on her shoes. I think she has ballet slippers painted every color of the rainbow!
