Iīve found the niftiest thing for us who color/tone/bleach at home!
Tested it out during 2 months, and I donīt understand how I ever managed without it before.
Since I apply colored conditioner(Revlonīs Nutri Color) once a week itīs been used 8 times on myself now, never thought I could have a touch up applied perfectly in about 3minutes!
Ordered mine from the company directly, and shipping was fast&inexpensive to Sweden(they deliver world wide)Roots Only - Hair Color Hair Applicator Comb System
Itīs a bottle with a built in wide comb that just the right size, just the right "squeezable"feel, and cleans easily.
Tried it for touchup bleaching on my friend 2 times+on my sisters auburn color(they both ordered their own bottles now)
Hereīs a video review,so you can see what it looks like, and how itīs used:

Re: Found a FAB thing for home hair coloring
Im sharing this with my BFF- she's a blondie and this would work great for her!
(Im not so sure about my red.... as I like a full head application, but this could work for those spots i sometimes miss!)
Thanks!

Re: Found a FAB thing for home hair coloring
How big are the holes? I.e., is worth starting to experiment with this using (probably slightly diluted) henna?

Re: Found a FAB thing for home hair coloring
Thank you so much for this!

I once used the Clairol Perfect 10 kit and love their applicator, but I threw it the carbage afterward (should have kept it, duh!
)
Since I prefer to buy my hair colors in tubes and mix it myself (less expensive) I will surely get one of this gizmo. Thanks again!

Re: Found a FAB thing for home hair coloring
Iīm about 30% grey, and going to the salon twice a month is something I just canīt afford(or have the time for)
Doing my color at home saves money for going to a wonderful cutting stylist who charges 71USD
Have tried different home colors w. comb applicators(not wide enough to work fast+not long enough teeth to really reach only roots if I want to),and "different "dye brushes"like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Carol-Wright-G...168291&sr=8-15
Until now the brush applicators have all been messy+hard to clean,Roots Only were the best investment ever(swear Iīm not sponsored, lol)

Re: Found a FAB thing for home hair coloring
I bought one of these at Walmart. I am fairly certain it is the exact same brand. They were hanging on the corner of an end-cap in the beauty area. I thin henna down and can do a root touch up with just one bottle full. The application is fast and clean. We loved it so much I picked up another for just in case. The outside teeth will occasionally get a clog. so after use I run water through the comb and alternate blowing it out and soaking. Totally worth the effort.

Re: Found a FAB thing for home hair coloring
seems like this would be great for ALL my purposes- not just roots given that I have short hair.
I haven't henne-ed in a while- I am regretful of this due to the fact my hair has been chemically died for ohhh 6-8 months. But maybe you henne ladies can fill me in on how it works when you try it out- or maybe enlarge the holes at the tip at some point (needle?) and maybe that would help.
spiffy- thanks for sharing!

Re: Found a FAB thing for home hair coloring
Basha:In case you donīt have a blender and find the holes to small,itīs easy to just snip off the ends of the teeth with a nail scissor:-)
Fencai:Iīm now a redhead too,and get very even coverage of Revlons toning deep conditioner in 740(I donīt know if itīs avaliable in the US?)It deposits very much color without staining the hairline,so itīs neccessairy to use gloves:Revlon Professional Nutri Colour Creme 250ml
Another product thatīs just wonderful for permanent color at home(but doesnīt work as well on henna stains is the:Amazon.com: Metropolis Prima-Tint Color Stain Remover 10 oz. # Ptint-10: Beauty
Before these two products I had to count in days after coloring for staining around hairline to disappear(you ALL know what I mean ladies!)...PLUS the tedious parting when applicating color-nowadays I can touch up the same day in 40 minutes and look presentable in the evening.Last edited by emma-bessa; 06-09-2012 at 05:50 AM. Re: Found a FAB thing for home hair coloring
Thanks for sharing, and thanks to all the ladies who posted re: henna. I've been henna-ing my hair for about a year now and find it to be sooo time consuming and messy (and smelly, so on a side note if anyone has any suggestions about diluting the smell that would be awesome! I've tried adding in cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla to no avail)
I'm going to order one of these gadgets!

Re: Found a FAB thing for home hair coloring
I have been considering using lemon juice to lift the color of my very dark hair just half a notch brighter. Nothing drastic. I wonder if this is what I need to distribute the lemon juice / water mix in even streaks, so I don't have a blobby patch of lighter hair in spots?

Re: Found a FAB thing for home hair coloring
Iīve never really used henna on myself frequently,so I donīt know what to do about a pecular smell...however I use scents from this place many yearsWholesale Fragrance Oils, Candle Supplies, Incense, Body Oils, Perfume Kits: Wholesale Fragrance Oils, Candle Supplies, Scented Incense, Body Oils
For example I like to add a preferred fragrance(Ralph) to schampoo/shower gel/unscented body butter:-)
(If you prefer a whole natural approach they have essential oils of good quality, just make sure you tolerate it)
Another friend ordered it now but didnīt have a blender(consistency was thick)so I snipped off more than a third of the length of the teeth for her,and made them smooth with a nail file so that her scalp wouldnīt be scratched. It distributes very evenly!

Darbla:Is your hair completely natural,or has the color been changed?
(I mean, has it been toned/dyed and you would have preferred it a bit lighter than the end results?Sorry, english is my 3:d language;and havenīt studied it for 20yrs so my expressions may not always be comprehensible

Re: Found a FAB thing for home hair coloring
Aw...THANX!!!Iīm trying my best...
One product that Iīll def. recommend to take a color down a step is ColorB4:Hair Colour Remover Blogs | Colour B4 Hair Colour Remover
If itīs not yet avaliable in the US,products like "Color Oops"are the exactly same.
These do not dry out the hair like lemon juice would, because they only remove added colors by allowing dye molecules to be rinsed out with water.
Edited to add:any color that require mixing will have some peroxide,so by using this you will have the lightest color possible without bleaching. The hair "under the veil"of still left deposited color will have been lightened by any home hair color that involves mixing.
My own experience with ColorB4was jaw dropping-managed to gradually go from almost pitch black into dark blonde in four rinses without any peroxide,so hair was in top condition when I went copper

Re: Found a FAB thing for home hair coloring
Woohoo!
I used it this morning and I am totaly amazed.
I works soooo good and fast, and without ANY MESS. And belive me, I'm a very messy person when it comes to color my hair. I usualy cover the whole bathrom with plastic, but no more! I didn't even make a spot on the old t-shirt I was wearing.
I think this is my best purchase of the year!

Thank you so much Emma-Bessa!
