Wink Affordable dupes for Urban Decays 24/7 Glide-On eyeliners!

Solone Smoody Gel Like Eyeliners sets even faster, comes in many nice colors and costs less than half of the $ one have to shell out for the 24/7 liners..They come in both twist up(non sharpening)and normal, avaliable in neutral shades, neutrals with shimmer or glitter added,in stronger colors,as well as highlighter nuances to use in inner corners/under brows, and stay put on the water line on me for a whole 10 hours(I wear contacts and have no problems=non-irritating)

Right now I have loaned out my camera(so I can´t add pictures of swatches)but I just wanted to give a tip about these for the budget minded "beauty snobs"

Here are 4 shades so y´all can see the amazing pigmentation swatched:
Qwic-Pic: Solone Gel Like Smoody Pencils - Some Thoughts & Comparison Swatches

They can be ordered online directly from Solone,Ebay(can PM seller id:s) but if you reside in an area with a large asian community they may be bought at grocery stores.

Here´s a US seller that two of my friends have bought from many times without any problems:eBay My World - whitecat3845724

Hint:Their brow pencils are almost the same formula, and is rectangular(always has a sharp side to draw tiny "brow hairs"with):SOLONE AUTO WATERPROOF 24HR PERFECT BROW RETRACTABLE EYEBROW PENCIL | eBay

IMHO asian drugstore cosmetics, especially the eye makeup are superior to many high end lines in the west.
The demands on precision/performance there are much higher:some consumers have monolids, climate(high humidity) and lashes growing downwards(+hard to hold curl)

btw:I´ve wrote a blog entry about japanese/south korean "supersharp"liquid pen linersShabby Non-Chic: Eyeliners

Re: Affordable dupes for Urban Decays 24/7 Glide-On eyeliners!

Oh my goodness THANK YOU! It's really hard to find good pencils that are soft enough not to pull or tug, but that stay put and don't smear by the end of the day.

I LOVE UD's 24/7 pencils, but I got tired of having to sharpen them all the time (I'd keep trying to use it until I was poking my eyelid with the wood bit, owie!)

So I switched to Stila Smudgesticks, which are the twist-up kind. I love them very much (and like Sephora's store brand of the same thing) but they don't have the fun color selection that 24/7 has. I love brilliantly colored liners to make my eyes pop! Black makes my small, fair eyes look like tiny burnt holes, and brown makes me look tired.

I've heard the NYX Slide On Pencils are also a good dupe and half the price. I haven't tried these out yet but I have never met a NYX product I didn't love.

    Lauren:

I only own two of these, but there´s another south korean eyeliner that may be exactly what you´ve been searching for:Clio Gelpresso (I´m such a makeup pimp)

    1.A similar "gel in a pencil"-formula.
2.Twist-up. I also hate to shave away my $ sharpening liners!
    3.Comes in bright&lively colors like teal,jade green,purple,bronze,lime,apricot etc

Found an Ebay seller that seems reliable(over 4000 positive feedbacks) VOV, Clio items in tansangoshop store on eBay! and here´s some swatches:

My friend showed me a gel eyeliner set(10 shades)that were all kinds of colors nice, and I liked the quality of them-does anyone here know a brand from the US called "maly"?

---due to my stepdaughter being near 18 and recently discovering makeup I often give her and her friends items that they like to borrow-thus my "liner stash" often needs restocking

I have a Mally eyeshadow stick but I haven't used it yet. Mally is supposed to be a good brand in the higher price range. It's sold a lot on QVC as well. Mally Beauty

Re: Affordable dupes for Urban Decays 24/7 Glide-On eyeliners!

The Loreal Chrome is super soft- it's actually too soft for my taste- I can barely get both eyes done before having to sharpen the thing.

But it's uber soft- my BF's mom bought black and it's too dark for her so I got to use it.

I was recommened Stila as well... they had black cat on sale for half off (only 10$) for the smudge pot- I'm not in love- the one I have is a little tacky- but it stays really well.

Thanks for the other recommendations though!!! I definitly *need* more (cough cough cough)

speaking of Ulta is having a wicked sale of their own brand. single eye shadows are 2$/pot, 3 for a duo and 4 for a trio (I think on the trio) but definitly 2 and 3$ for the single/duo's.

And it's a decent eye shadow. :) I have five or so of them.

Re: Affordable dupes for Urban Decays 24/7 Glide-On eyeliners!

My Smoody pencils arrived already! I ordered two colors and I love them.

They are VERY soft and go on almost like a liquid... so precise! The colors are strong, too.

The dry-time is a little long. If I don't keep my eyes half-closed for a few minutes, the color smudges over my crease.

After the color is dry it stays on fairly well. It doesn't wear like the UD 24/7 (that will stay in place overnight if necessary -- I might even swim in it) but unless I sweat it stays in place reasonably well.

Bottom line: I like the look I get with it very much, maybe even more than 24/7. I'll be using it plenty, for sure, to get that 'almost like a liquid' effect. But it's not the same no-worries kind of liner. It will smudge if I get sweaty, etc so I do have to check myself in the mirror periodically.

Looks like NYX is cruelty free as well.

NYX Cosmetics is certified and acknowledged by organizations, such as PETA, as a cruelty free brand. Most of our products consist of raw ingredients that are not tested on animals and are not obtained by harming any of our fury friends.

    DANG,they smear?:-(

Smoodys works great for me(sets in about 20 seconds and stays put)...maybe Iwas too optimistic about them working in other countries!!! with different weather?

Re: Affordable dupes for Urban Decays 24/7 Glide-On eyeliners!

Have to add:The custom of putting eyeliners in the freezer before sharpening is virtually unknown here, many heat liners over a candle or cigarette lighter before application..and most women here in Sweden don´t use powder(loose or pressed) since we have a cold&windy climate.

Glad you liked them Lauren-but I *should* have thought about heat/humidity issues before recommending them!(never visited the US and don´t have good insight on the different climate regions...)
