Re: More PICS: Show us your FASTEST costume!
This is fabulous, Amity!
There should be a reality show about dancers having to make costumes under the most demanding of circumstances. That would be hilarious...

I am the one on the left in the pink. Yup, glitter dot with rainbow butterflies. Needles kept getting stuck in the fabric. I just made the top and veil.Last edited by bdaddiction; 01-30-2008 at 12:11 AM.

Yes, there is some 8in fringe in sections on the side and back... and about 50 ab rhinestones... I should take some closer pics...
I got the bra design ideal from one of my german pattern magazines.
Thanks for the complement Jenlindseys

That is AWESOME, Arella! You're so photogenic, too!
It really helps to have exceptional fabric when pressed for time, eh?
And yes, I name my costumes all the time!!
I've got "Banana", "Party", "Slutty Dress Lady", what else...
Thank you! That drape is da bomb, especially in a pinch! ;0)

Re: More PICS: Show us your FASTEST costume!
Arella - I love this costume!! Especially the top! I never would have thought to just drape the fabric that way and have it wrap around the torso. BRILLIANT!!! Could you please show us some more pics of the details?? It's definitely an "inspiration" costume for me and I'd love to create something like it. Thanks!

I name all my costumes. (Or they name themselves.) Izmir, Roal Peacock, Vintage 20s (Although its not really vintage.) You get the idea. So to answer your question, yes I think it is normal to name your costumes!

Re: More PICS: Show us your FASTEST costume!
I made this out of 2 black thrift store dresses the same day I performed in it. It has actually become one of my favorite folk dresses and a model for many other dresses I have made since then. I am the only one who knows that the top part is a slightly different fabric than the bottom part =)
I call this one Goodwill Magic!

this isn't from me, it's from here Mermaid is an origianally designed Decotach Bellydance costume based on our Gypsy Fairy design.
but i think with some cool trim, ribbons, and pretty fabric, something similar could be thrown together in no time. i love how it looks!

Re: More PICS: Show us your FASTEST costume!
This might not count, since I didn't make the pants...

My mom and I made our costumes in two seperate cities, so I think they work pretty good together considering.
All in all I probably spent 2 hours on the pink costumuing (and the long part of that was crocheting the fringe to be a little more substantial). What you can't see here is that the belt actually flairs out on the other side into a triangle so its not just a band all around. And that white/blue color on top is the pair of my ex-boyfriend's jeans that he left when he moved out that I cut up to add stiffness. I tried sewing it the way you normally do, right side to right side and then flipping it inside out before you close it up to get a smooth line, but I couldn't make the seams lay perfectly flat, so there is some puckering.
The coin bra I had made before, but that only took about an hour as well. I sewed on a cloth club top with black lace and fringe as the bra cover, added bell fringe around the entire base of the bra and then sewed on the coins and the shells.
So all together a 4 hours costume. Eh, with the hair falls about 5.Last edited by _Sarai_; 01-12-2009 at 11:08 AM.
