    rhinestone chain

I'm thinking like... free shipping super cheap rhinestone chain.
any suggested vendors? If there isn't free shipping or special deals, I'll probably just use a coupon at joanns!
    Thanks in advance

    Re: rhinestone chain

My JoAnn is very limited when it comes to rhinestone chain, so I've been eyeing:

    http://stores.ebay.com/Rhinestone-Chain-Warehouse

They sell by the foot and shipping is cheap, $2.00, I think. Everything is 3-4 mm for $3.50/foot.

Has anyone purchased from this ebay vendor?

Try www.rhinestonechain.net , cheap and free shipping worldwide.

I've ordered Swarovski AB silver plated chain some time ago, quality was good.

awesome ladies! 3.50$/ft is MUCH cheaper than the 20$/yard at jo-annes. I usually wait for a 50% off coupon and end up spending about 10$/yard which is comparable...but many many more options here!

what would the world do without forums?

See that light turquoise with glitter fabric in the drawer? It's on the cutting table next! I just need some aurora borealis silver backed rhinestone chain to go with it.

I found it, I found it! "US Domestic Mail or Global Priority Mail SHIPPING IS FREE!!" and "ALL CHAIN IS $3.00 PER FOOT (except for silverplate, it is $3.50 per foot), regardless of quantity, size of stones."

This site wins! (I wonder if this site is the same as the Ebay store I found?)

Great site, I just ordered some for a rather saucy costume I have in mind!

By the way does anyone have advice on how to cut this stuff? Or can it be taken apart to make shorter lengths? I haven't used it before (as you can probably tell!)

If it's what I'm thinking it is, I've worked with it - you need some wire-cutters and just snip through the the little links that join the rhinestones together. You can shape the chain in curves and then stitch it down over the links (never done this myself, but see that's how it's done on costumes I have).

    That would make so much more sense if I could just show you what I mean!,r:;

that makes perfect sense! I've used it before. Just a warning to all- some costumes have this stuff on it and it is impossible to do veil work with! You get all stuck to the silk and you look like a mess. Haha.

I've used it before and cheap wire cutters work well. once you snip it the pieces fall out. It is really pretty, but I would recommend not putting just this on the costume. I always line the rhinestone chain with prestrung beads that are slightly thicker than the chain and then you wont get as much stuff (veils) sticking to it and snagging like crazy

haha good luck firefly! Make sure you post pictures of your dahlal inspired piece kiyanna. I just dream up ideas, buy all the supplies and put them in boxes....then come up with more ideas to "talk about" I need to stay away from bhuz and get some sewing done this weekend
Its too bad we don't all live near each other, its much more fun to make costumes when you have company. I like to sit down with my grandma and give her jobs.
    Thanks ladies!

    Re: rhinestone chain

Ha Ha! I'm trying to finish up some projects before moving on to buying more stuff. But I can't resist a bargain. Have you seen the bumper sticker "The one who dies with the most fabric wins."

I am nearly finished with my cerise crushed velvet baladi/saidi dress. Circular sleeve drapes with silver lined turquoise bead and holographic silver "rope" edging on sleeves, neck and hem. Now adding holographic silver and holographic turquoise pailette dangles to sleeves and hem. Half of one sleeve to go and then I start embellishing the belt and headband. Made a turban wrap headband out of the same crushed velvet and made a tie belt that is rounded and darted in back like a booty hugging Egyptian belt but with long ties to make it more baladi.

This is a troupe costume. Most of the troupe members had a seamstress make theirs and used metallic ribbon trim ont he edges. I decided I wanted mine to be different and have been wanting to have that hot pink, turquoise, silver combo for a whle. So this was the pefect opportunity. Will photo when finished.
