Hello Ladies. My brother is over in Washington state and for some reason I thought there was a belly dance costume store out there. Am I wrong? Does anyone know. If so please let me know so i can have him pick me up a costume. Thanks

well, your best bet would be hasani and her emporium. she's in gig harbor and vends several times a year and you can make an appt to see her stuff in person at the shop. Hasani's Online Hotline

other than that, there is pyramid imports just outside of pike place market. they carry lower-end egyptian costumes, hookahs and hip scarves and such. there used to be another similar shop down in the bowels of the market called lost treasures, but I haven't been down there in years so not sure if it's still around. they sell the exact same kind of stuff, though.

if you're looking for tribal or gypsy type stuff, there are people who sell it - I'm just not familiar with the non-sparkly stuff. :)

where in WA is your brother? it's kind of a big state. ;)

Well, in Seattle the store in Pike Market is still there. It's not called Lost Treasures (at least not anymore) but something very very similar. Like Pharoah's Treasures or... ??? It's downstairs, and takes some searching to find. small store.

Lost Treasure was a third store (across from pyramid imports) which closed recently. Can still be accessed online, however, they don't really update their site. Which is unfortunate, that was my favorite store in seattle.

Pyramid imports, like Elisagamal said carries the lower-end costumes. You'll find a lot of standard bra/belt set. Most the other costumes are way overpriced. I believe they carry wings there too.

The store in pikes market, has some nicer costumes. Just depends on when you get there and how longs it's been since their last shipment. I don't remember if prices were good.

Hasani has good stuff, some of it a little pricey. Definately a good selection.

There's really not much else in Wa, not that I'm aware at least =p You have to wait for the different events and festivals.

Speaking of Lost Treasures ... hey Raena

The store in Pike's Market is Pharoah's Treasures. It's on the bottom floor if you go down the stairs by the place that throws fish. OK selection but I would never try on a costume there as it's like buying from Beavis and Butthead. Pyramid Imports is way overpriced and they moved across the street to the storefront that Lost Treaures used to be in.

Oh, too bad - I liked Lost Treasures. Those guys were really nice. A troupemate of mine bought a fabulous costume there a few years ago. Good prices too.

I can only speak from my experience, but I didn't enjoy shopping at Pyramid Imports. They had insanely limited selection (thousands of the same gold bedlah, and hundreds of the same in silver) and the lady at the counter followed us around and watched us like a hawk...very unfriendly. Didn't have a good experience there.

I still say - contact Hasani. She is a total gem, she hauled all her wonderful costumes out for our small group of 5 (it was my stagette!) and I really wish I had found something that fit, I would have loved to have spent every last penny with her, her personal service and attention is worth every red cent and her selection is amazing. Patience of an angel that lady has! Can't wait for our next trip. (she'll probably run screaming, LOL!)

    I second that!
I´ve bought costumes that needed to be shipped to Sweden, they were here in 3 days(with little gifts from her too,aaaw...)!

Also, she often carries costumes with cups bigger than C.

I also third Hasani. I gave her my measurements, and when I showed up at her studio she had three HUGE bins of costumes only in my size. They usually range in price from $175ish up to $600. She is also an impeccable business woman and we all love her.

I don't know if Tina Sargeant's store sells belly dance costumes, but you could try. It's called Centerstage and is on University Way and 50th in the U-district of Seattle. I know for certain she sells lots of dance wear (leggins, tops, etc.), canes, swords, hip scarves, head scarves, and shiny stuff :D

Good luck! Let us know if you ever venture out. We'll try to go out one night.
