Thread: Want to by a Serger overlock sewing machine, need your impressions

I am interested of purchasing a Serger overlock sewing machine on eBay.

Please, I would like to know if some of you own a similar type of machine from the same company (Serger) and if your are satisfied with its performance.

Not familiar with that brand, sorry. I own a Bernina serger and I love it!! Love the professional results you get using a serger.

I think you better read this:

That machine is waaaaay too cheap. I would be suspicious.

Sergers can be a little tempermental and confusing when you first use them. Better to save your money for a GOOD one with local dealer who can help you with set up and use.

That's what I though... So far I have look up a few vendors in Montreal an a good overlock machine Euro-pro, Singer or brothers cost around 300$ to 400$.

Excellent advice! I purchased mine locally and have had the owner help me with rethreading problems on a couple of occasions. Also recently had him service, clean, and sharpen blades. I would agree that this is something that you want to be able to have local service available for.

for sure! I was having problems with a rolled hem recently...and the local shop showed me that the plate was bent!!!! on man, that is not good news!!

My mother, her sisters and mother were all masters of tailoring and sewing, but they all gone now, and I am just an « explorer » in the domaine.

They would probably convince me to buy a Singer machine (they only swore by Singer). So I’ll save money untill I can buy quality and durability. So no one will turn over in its grave!
