Thread: Bra straps

I'm wondering what you ladies do with your bra straps?

I'm mostly talking about Bellas which come with this long straps with the hooks at the end, and I guess they meant to go criss-cross on your back. But the straps are too long of course and I don't want to cut them (thinking of the person who will wear it after me), so I turn the ends under and sew to the bra, which is not the greatest thing because the beads and sequins are pressed to my skin and scratch it.... Also I sew them straight, like a regular bra, because if I make them crossed on the back I have no idea how to put and close this bra on without outside help:)

with my bella's the woman who fixed them for me attached them to the strap, and used the extra length to connect in the middle, with a large heavy duty snap, so it fits like sports bra, looks like a halter and doesn't weigh on my neck.

When I have to adjust straps, I generally pull a few stitches loose from the lining and sew the strap inside, then whip stitch the lining back in place.

I see no reason to leave many inches of extra length folded up and scratching you. If you can tuck an extra 2 inches down between the lining and the rest of the bra, that would leave plenty of room for a future owner to adjust.

YUp - I've tucked them into the lining too.
or we turn them into a halter style with a good 5"+ overlap on the straps.
That way it's long enough to convert back to bar style if someone wanted to.

What about attaching the straps ( sew) onto the back at a slight angle then cross over and do up to the bra cup, having them crossed would take up some of the length and you can get into a X-over bra fairly easy if it is done up at the front ( if there is still extra length you could do as ssipes suggests, and tuck the extra into the lining, but it would be less I would think). At the X-over point you could also stitch the straps so they stay X'ed at the right point.
