Thread: l.rose chiffon drapes snagging on bra stones

So, recently I fell in love with the look of the l.rose chiffon drapes and have bought a set for most all of my costumes in the various lengths and cuts that they offer.

The problem is that they aren't lasting longer than one or two performances before the chiffon is totally shredded from the stones on my bra tops.

Suggestions? Am I wearing them too high on my arms? Is there something I can do???

One of the reasons I fell in love with them was that the arm bands with the drapes hide my least favorite part of my physique - my upper arms. (think, wave)

I think they may be meant for the forearm..not the upper. I have the same Rocky the Flying Squirel thing (gotta mean arm shimmy). I find a smooth velvet band works better in that area.

it's not you. these were oringinally designed when any rhinestones were sew on not mounted. The best thing to do is coat the prongs on the mountings with something to convince them not to be sharp and pointy. Some people use clear nail polish to do this. My suggestion is to do this the day before you wear a costume. takes a little planning. But worth it.

To coat the prongs, you might try Alene's Jewel-It glue. it dries so clear, it becomes invisible. Before doing that you could look over the stones and make sure all the prongs are bent completely down. When the prongs get caught on fabric they can get pulled/bent outwards; then they're even more catch-y than before as well as prone to having the stones fall out. If you can do this work under a magnifier or with magnifying glasses, it helps a lot.

Thx, Ladies. I will look over each stone carefully before this weekend at Rakkasah, check the prongs, and cover them, hopefully with the Glue-It. Is that at Michael's?

Also, I'll consider the smooth velvet arm cuffs instead. I know l.rose makes those too. I just LOVE the romance of the chiffon drapes.
