Re: Bhuzzisms - a guide for new bhuz members!
So that the newer members don't feel left out of an inside joke, I'll explain 5280, and take full responsibility if he pops out of the woodwork.

The producer and creator of the Bellydance Superstars is Miles Copeland. He has shown up in the past to vehemently debate critiques of the show here on Bhuz. As he was not a regular contributing member, there was a running joke that if you mentioned his name in a thread ("Miles should really think about doing blah blah blah..."), he would pop up out of nowhere with these huge posts. It was kind of like saying "Beetlejuice" 3 times and having him show up. ..l;,
Because of the name thing, someone gave him the pseudonym of 5280, because there are 5,280 feet in a mile. Get it, wink wink, nudge nudge?

Re: Bhuzzisms - a guide for new bhuz members!
.w.: You said it two times. And once without the S .w.:
Actually, if you want he-who-must-not-be-named to appear, you have to invoke him by name on a thread where you're actually discussing the BDSS, preferably in a negative way.
And I think an eye of newt is involved, too.
Now that I have google updates about mentions of my name online, I have the power to be manifested by name on message boards, too. Mwahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Has anyone mentioned WWBD ? I am not actually sure if this stands for What Would Bellydancers Do or What Would Bhuz Do though.

Re: Bhuzzisms - a guide for new bhuz members!
So timely that I spotted this thread. I am working on the comprehensive Bellydancer's Bitchionary, a humorous glossary of these terms (plus a couple of my own), WITH PICTURES.
How on earth did I forget to add Raqs Beaver?
My submissions are:
PBD - Psychotic Belly Dancer. Every town's got one: an unstable, malicious prima donna who thinks she invented the figure eight and we're all out to copy her. Common PBD activities include not only rampant undercutting and stealing gigs, but also casting spells on the competition and having a stage name for each of her multiple personalities.
BDPD - Belly Dance Personality Disorder. The clinical name for the affliction suffered by PBD's. Ranya Renee of NYC gave me this. Yet another reason why I love her!

Re: Bhuzzisms - a guide for new bhuz members!
hahaha
I have to give credit for "BDPD" to the great Roula Said of Toronto, Canada
( Roula Said or Om Laila Home-page - Omlaila - Bellydance for body & soul - Belly dance community - toronto bellydance, toronto belly dance, bellydance school, bellydance classes,Events, bellydance, bellydancer, bellydance costumes, tribal bellydance, bellydancing, eg )
She is the source of that one, and if you enjoy my sense of humor, chances are good you will like hers too.
Actually though, BDPD doesn't have to be malicious... there are many varieties of BDPD I'd say.Last edited by ranyarenee; 04-19-2009 at 03:51 PM. Reason: appended

- WWBD? Stands for "What Would Bhuzzers Do?" Used when someone is seeking advice from the community on how to handle a sticky situation.
- WWLD? Inspired by WWBD, this one stands for "What would Lauren do?" In the past, there was a thread in which people were trying to figure out who was the "most sensible Bhuzzer", and people ended up agreeing that it was Lauren. Many people have appreciated her advice on how to handle difficult people such as club owners, gig clients, difficult students, troupe drama, etc.
Re: Bhuzzisms - a guide for new bhuz members!
Another recent thread reminded me that we need to add these to this thread:

3am Zill Brigade - angry dancers who will show up at 3am under the windows of your enemies and play finger cymbals loudly/badly.[/QUOTE]
Gee, and here I thought the zil brigade was celebrating, sort of like applause. I've been misusing them . . . . . handy as a tool of vengeance though - do they work in the greater Phoenix area?

Re: Bhuzzisms - a guide for new bhuz members!
Hi, thanks for these definitions. I'm fairly new to Bhuz, so these definitions are a big help. I notice that many of you are "Master" or "Advanced" Bhuzzers and I'm "Just Starting." There's also a lot (or a few) stars under some names. What's that all about?

The more you post, the farther you "advance" in stars and "status". In other words, you are rewarded for being talkative. You will also earn other little stars in your profile that you can use to send other Bhuzzers virtual gifts.
