How fun!!
I love coin costumes. My current fave is an antique bronze bra and belt paired with brocade harems and a tribl-ish Flying skirt.

I love flowy chiffon skirts slits on both sides with a 4" fringe bedlah. Pharaonics or Bella style fringe is preferable. Love tons of bling!

Lots of chiffon skirts and a blinged out bedlah. The classic "tribaret" style is a close second though.

Hmmm, I'd have to say that my favorite costume style is the elegant sparkly kind. Like a blinged out Sahar.
But I also love the tribal fusion that incorporates mens-wear type style and '60s - '70s American cabaret.Volunteer! Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive

Yay! for contests, as far as costumes go? I like the glitzy style ones with a vintage flair whether vintage or modern takes on vintage styles, they always make you feel sexy and classy and
mysterious all that the same time.

I absolutely love super glittery costumes with tons of fringe that really emphasize your curves and movement!
Happy Holidays!
Ketari
Just for fun, Bhuz is running contests this holiday season. We have teamed up with sponsors to offer prizes like DVDs, CDs, and gift certificates.
I will be forcing a thread for only 24 hours for each contest.
Our second contest prize will go to 2 winners! Each will receive an instructional DVD from Princess Farhana: Lovely Layers. The focus of this DVD is on layering your movements - teaching you how to skillfully move every part of your body simultaneously, but with fluidity, and a different speeds. Princess Farhana will guide you through the foundations for mesmerizing layering technique as well as show you how to put it all together.
You can find out more about Princess Farhana and all of her upcoming events and workshops on her website, Princess Farhana of Hollywood - Belly dancer, teacher
TO ENTER THE CONTEST: All you have to do is reply to this thread! We will randomly select the winners by drawing the page number out of a bowl and then drawing the reply number out of a bowl (2 separate drawings for 2 winners this time!) TO MAKE IT A LITTLE INTERESTING, please tell us your FAVORITE COSTUME STYLE - do you love super girly glitz and tons of fringe, or do you prefer a more modern style?
The winner of the contest will be announced on the evening of Saturday, November 12th
Good luck![/QUOTE]

My favorite costume style has lots of silk for color and flow. I like things more covered, and love costumes that incorporate unique and vintage textiles.

Great contest! I was really digging the sleek modern for awhile, but I am back to the AmCab style fringy bedlah and circle skirt right now. Throw in some epaulettes and I am happy!

I'll never say no to a draw with fun prizes!
Right now I'm really feeling the sleek modern look with high quality, interesting fabrics, mermaid skirts and lots of crystals.

I'm torn. But what I do know is that I LOVE coin costumes - I live how they jingle when you move, and I definitely love the vintage mata hari style stuff - lots of pearls, lots of sumptuous looking fabric and costume jewelry.
Granted, I also adore unique costume models - thinking like Nesrin Topkapi's half robe, and Sohair Zaki's colorful coordinated bodystockins. J'adore!

Tribaret coins & glitz, Designer cabaret...for me the best part of any costume is the veil. Flowy, shimmering silks, iridescent chiffons, off beat non traditional fabrics...love them all :)

Yay! I love girly fringe-y Sims. I'm also fascinated by the cut-out bras that Sim, Bella, and Legend are using these days with all the lovely scroll work/filigree.

Re: Holiday Contest#2 - there will be 2 winners!!!
Well hello, fellow Bhuzzers!
In general my favorite costumes are glitzy and super feminine! Style-wise, I love a good two piece costume set with a "mermaid skirt" (read: not a bra-and-belt) and not too much fringe obscuring that beautiful dancer! It's not that I don't like the ever-versatile bra-and-belt bedlahs, but something about a costume set just sets me to drooling!

Win a prize? Great!
My preferred costume style is a fitted dress - with lots of sparklies - maybe cutouts- but not too much fringe.

Love vintage Bellas from the 90's, but find the modern sleek styles so easy to wear (yay, Eman!). And God help me, but I love the first Sahars that came out .... the "unique" ones ..... total costume addict here ...

Costumes
I love them all really.
Anything with great big AB crystals gets my attention every time, not a huge fan of the turkish fringe monster styles though.

I think I love asymmetrical the best- short fringe, not super long, and mega rhinestones and sparkles. I like elegance with sass!

I am tiny but I love vintage fringe monsters that have glitz and bling. I love the weight, feel and smell of the costume and making it authentic with a twist! Sassy and fun!

Re: Holiday Contest#2 - there will be 2 winners!!!
I honestly don't have a favorite style - my costume choices depend entirely on the venue and the music. I've worn everything from sequin-and-sparkle bedleh over full skirts to slinky lycra dresses with rhinestones and beading... and then there's the "tribaret"/ethnic/tribal looks, with coins and cowries and assuit... I love it all!

Re: Holiday Contest#2 - there will be 2 winners!!!
I love a more classic look: bra, belt, and huge circle skirt! In general, though, I'm a fan of simplicity, so I'm not big on cut-outs and other complicated features, whether classic or modern. I like designs that continue to look good year after year, not trendy ones that end up looking dated.
The way you move ain't fair, you know!
