Veil, veil veil!

Double sword, but I also have been playing with fan veils - what a weight difference that is!

Okay, so every belly dancer needs a pretty and feminine prop like a veil, right? But secretly...I am a Saidi type of girl!! I love twirling canes, sticks...whatever around like I am playing with a baton! I think I missed my calling as a majorette....

I will go with veil fan as it is a new toy!

Cane and Zills!!! . . . currently trying to figure out how to do both at the same time!!1 something I have never done before and apparently my fingers are too short or I need to get a really skinny cane

I love playing zills, I can play to any type of music. I did a gig last night and played them for 2 hours, DJ was using all types of world music, I amazed me that I was able to follow any tempo and rhythm, the crowd was mesmerized=)

My favorite props are cane and shamadan!

Silk veils, beautiful and the cane.

I love zills and veil, and recently I love my wooden spoons...

So tough to choose, and a lot of it is based on my mood and the music I'm loving at the time! So I'd say it's a toss-up between veil, sword and cane.

I always use veil, but overall, I am not a big fan of props.

OH! I guess this counts - my favorite prop is a doumbek that I can both play and dance on top of!

Zills! Veil is a close second, then sword, then fan veil, isis wings, and cane.

I love any and all props, providing they don't eclipse the dancing... nothing worse than a prop stealing the show

Though technically not a prop I'm a zill addict !!!

The prop that I'm best at using is zills, but I also really love cane. I wish I was good with the cane yet!

My fave is a silk veil... floaty and elegant

I just adore cane and hope to use it really well someday. While zills are not a prop but a musical instrument, and people are submitting that as an answer, I might as way say that I am getting more and more addicted to them.

Like Zorba, I have no desire ever to dance with a sword.

I don't use props, but I would be most likely to use a veil. I love how feminine and floaty they are. Also, they can be like an extension of the costume, either matching it or contrasting with it in a compatible color for extra visual punch. Further, they can also have different dye jobs such as batik or marbling. Plus, there is not much chance of me hurting myself or anyone else or damaging anything with one in my tiny apartment.

Canes also appeal to me as well. They are kind of snappy like tap dancing.

My favorite prop is(are) my hand fans!

boy, that is a toss-up. Probably zills, tho veil is a close second!!!!

Cane is my favorite prop! I feel more free performing with cane than with other props, because it doesn't hide my dancing.

My favourite prop and probably the one I am known quite well for using, is ATTITUDE!!! And bucket loads of it!

Whether it's the arrogant stamp of my feet and an impertinent swish of the skirt over my sholder in a gypsy number, the fake checking of my watch during a 2 minute long shimmy section in a drum solo or the look down the nose with a sly smile during an oriental number, I found that having attitude during a dance was the only thing that I couldn't drop or break! (and trust me, when you've had 15 years of snapping canes in half, strangulation with a veil caught on your necklace and putting swords through your foot, something that can't hurt you ROCKS!)

I've done it and with a big walking stick, not an oriental style cane. Bedouin style, and we even did this bit where we tossed the cane from one hand to the next! Sounds really impressive but it was waaaay easier than it looks (kinda the point tho lol) The trick is to turn your zills around to the backs of your fingers and then when you can balance the cane somewhere (head is a great place or in the crooks of your arms) you flip them back around (that takes a bit of practice) and can play :)

Prop? I am beginning/teaching myself veil. PS - pray for me!
