Love classic, or modern in the classic style, egyptian music with full orchestration....so beautiful, dynamic and exciting. 2nd fave would be songs with great vocals and lyrics....love the emotion!

I love dancing to all kinds of music! Though I think I'd have to pick drum solos as one of my all time favorites.

Re: Holiday Contest #4 - Hadia In Performance DVD
I have to agree with Lesedi's comment (page 1). Eddie Kochak is LOVVVVVVELY to dance to (Especially his Volume 6 album).
Djinn is great fun (performed to Brooklyn Baladi on Saturday, it was a hit).
For practice ANYTHING is game. It's fun to dance to the washing machine's 6/8 rhythm or do combinations to the theme song from Spongebob Squarepants.

Re: Holiday Contest #4 - Hadia In Performance DVD
Have always loved music by which one can Raks Assaya, but have only recently started performing it.
Otherwise, love it all! But for a full-on show, 15-20 minutes, love the diversity of the typical 5-part Vintage Oriental/American Oriental/Dinosaur-type music set!

I went to a Hadia workshop when I first started to dance, so only about 50% went down the digestive system... but it sure helped!
I love classical egyptian with a bit of saidi here and there.

Classical instrumentals with lots of changes and accents you can sink your teeth into.
I love dancing. I think it's better to dance than to march through life. ~Yoko Ono

Re: Holiday Contest #4 - Hadia In Performance DVD
Echoing many others before me...LIVE music, of course! Especially classical Egyptian. Also using a lot of debke songe in my shows lately...and there are some really great electronic remixes of arabic pop that I've been sneaking in too. Since I like to "whip my hair" like Willow, I'll have to add khaleeji.

I also love a good moody classic with lots of oud, I really love the old-school am cab sound, especially John Bilezikjian, George Abdo and Eddie Kochak!

Live music with lots of tempo changes, stops, a soulful song like "Beautiful is the Night", oud & vocals by Nazir Latouf locally here in the Bay Area, a great drum solo ..... and my current favorite track "Min Hobi Fik Ya Ghari"!
... dance as though no one who is qualified to commit you is watching ..
