I've only met her once but she was warm, maternal, and kind to me. She's a real class act. I am terribly sorry to hear of her loss.

Re: Our Condolences to Fahtiem
Oh dear! I am so sad to hear this. Fahtiem is one of the most warm and generous people I know, though I only know her slightly. Her departed husband had to have been one lucky dude to have had the blessing of such a beautiful, talented, and lovely woman at his side. Since like attracts like, I can only imagine what a fellow he must have been. Fahtiem, my heart goes out to you. Peace and blessings.

Re: Our Condolences to Fahtiem
I've never met or studied with Fahtiem, but I'm familiar with her work (and IIRC our Zorba thinks very highly of her, so she must be lovely!)
My heart goes out to her, what a terrible loss.

I'm so sorry to hear that - I hope it's some small measure of comfort to know that so many are thinking of her at such a difficult time.

Re: Our Condolences to Fahtiem
I do indeed. I can NOT begin to say enough good about her, starting with heartfelt agreement with Ozma's observation that she is a "class act". She is also one of about 3 or 4 dancers whose dancing I'd use the word "exquisite" to describe.
Does anyone know what happened? I saw her at Rakkasah and there was no hint of a problem at that time (not that she'd broadcast anything anyway).
I shot her a condolence email - I hope she's OK..."The Veiled Male"

Re: Our Condolences to Fahtiem
I have not met Fahtiem, but she's been on my "teacher wish list" almost since I started this dance form. I am very sorry to hear of her loss. I am sure that her husband knew of the magnitude of her love, and I hope that Fahtiem feels love from the dance community at this time.

Re: Our Condolences to Fahtiem
She wrote in a Chronicles article last year that he had a change in health.
She is warm, and wonderful, and someone that everyone should study with. I have had the honor of studying with her for a total of three days, and each one was FULL of elegance, beauty, and grace. From the moment the music starts, from the first move of the warmup to the moments the students depart for the day, every second is spent showing the student how to be beautifully commanding of the stage. Not a moment is wasted on anything frivolous. Everyone will comment that they want to keep her and study with her more. I know I am gushing, but she has this way of teaching that speaks to every style of learning: via explanation, visualization, feeling the movement, sounding your way through it . . . this won't make sense until you study with her; but, studying with her is like being suddenly transported to an etherial place where everyone is full of previously untapped grace that only she can tease out of you.
As a disclaimer, I was part of a troupe that sponsored her late last year. So, I am biased.
And, she is just as wonderful, warm, and darned funny outside of the classroom as inside.
Her dear husband must have been just as wonderful, because Fahtiem is everything I described and more. My thoughts are with her.

Re: Our Condolences to Fahtiem
He was a wonderful man. Gracious, kind and supportive of his lovely wife. Thoughts and prayers go out to Fahtiem and her family.
The first time I met Fahtiem's husband, he opened the door to their lovely, immaculate home and said, "She will be with you soon, you can wait in the studio." His eyes shone when he said "she" and it was obvious how much respect he had for her and her art.Sabrina Bellydancer, San Diego, California. Available worldwide. Workshops. Shows.

I am so sorry to hear this news.
I was fortunate to study with her about 4 years ago here in Raleigh NC.
While I never met her husband, I can only imagine he was as wonderful as she is.
My deepest sympathies to her on her loss.
