I have both of Ranya's videos and will buy just about anything she puts out at this point. Her teaching style is accessible and her dancing (what I've seen on video) is great too. If she ever makes it to Cali I'm so there!

Bumping this up cause I am getting very excited about Camparet in October. What do I love about Ranya? Her wit, humor, intelligence and the fact that she can dance with such joy and freedom of movement. She doesn't have a back seat driver whispering in her right ear.

I'm a fan! After I watched the above clip I was hooked! And I'm also a big fan of her business sense! I sure wish I could afford to go to the Theatrical Bellydance conference. It looks awesome and I hope she does it next year!

Finally tried one of Ranya's DVDs last night and I must say I love her technique. At a Yousry workshop he goes so fast into the choreo that you can't get a handle on much of the underlying technique, but Ranya lays it all out for you in the drills on the Modern Oriental DVD. I'll definitely be watching for more of her work and lobbying the local promoters to bring her to town!

I don't know how close you are to the Baltimore/Washington area, but Ranya will be teaching workshops in both the Competition Prep and Talent & Technique Tracks at this year's BDNC.

Ok y'all, have been going back and forth over whether a totally raw newbie like me should go to Bahaia's Oct Camparet, where Ranya is one of the amazing workshop instructors, and it sounds like it (she) is something that should not be missed! How do you know when you're ready??? I just received Ranya's "Modern Oriental" dvd but haven't yet had a chance to indulge...

No matter how new you are, a master instructor will take you to the next level. My first 4 day workshop (dancing 6 months) was with Dalia Carella and was worth every dime. Take from the best and dont worry if you are worthy.

I'd love a pep talk, people! I'm slogging through the long weeks at the sound studio recording voiceover commentaries for my new Bellydance Taqasim DVD that will be done in, dare I say, the next few weeks!!! This will be the first DVD on my new Ginger City label, and I'm excited about it. Pre-orders for the DVD will begin on my site in probably another week or so.

I think you are going to like the content, but let me tell you, it is a lot of work to assemble a DVD! I enjoy teaching in front of live people so much, it can be a little lonely sometimes working on the video stuff. I do try to pack as much content in to really give dancers a good learning experience, and it is helpful and rewarding to hear what works for you and what kind of material interests you, the dancing connoisseurs!
