I have just returned from the Island of Isis Bellydance Retreat which was held in Loveland, Ohio, where I studied with Jasmin Jahal. What a wonderful, fun, kind, warm instructor she was. I sure would enjoy taking another workshop with her at some time. My friends are now off to Shimmyfest in Chicago where she is also instructing - wish I could go but we are in the midst of moving and it just isn't possible!

Yes, Jasmin Jahal is a wonderful dancer and teacher! I've been her student for just over three years, and have been really happy with the level of complexity, professionalism and knowledge. She's amazing to watch too. I know there are a lot of dancers around Chicago who have studied with her, many of whom have gone on to become excellent dancers and teachers themselves.

I'm doing shimmyfest this year and really looking forward to a week with 20+ hours of class!

I saw her on a performance DVD I rented recently (can't remember which one, dang it) and was captivated! Would love to take a workshop or two with her.

I'm going to Shimmyfest, too. It will be the second workshop I've ever taken. My teacher took her workshop a few years ago. Can't wait!!

I'd love to go to shimmy fest (right here in my city!) but unfortunately I have to go for the entire week and I don't have extra $$$. Please review after the workshop so I can plan better for next year.

I've been a Jasminite for the past 12 years and have worked in her studio for the past four. She has been so much more than a teacher to me... she has been a mentor and a friend. Although I can't make the Chicago Shimmyfest weeklong this year, I recommend it to any advanced dancer who wants intensive study in Egyptian style and a chance to perform with a top-notch live band!

I've never met her, but I love her articles on her website about gender and the dance. She seems to be a fascinating woman.
