I tried to resist but I need to open a fan thread for him. Took one workshop with
him, and that let me needing for more.
does anyone have any idea of him travelling to teach out of Egypt this year? I have heard that there may a workshop in New York - more details would be appreciated.
I know in UK people are not happy with him, as he cancelled late and was replaced this year, any plans to invite him again? Other european cities?
Or do I have to arrange him myself (as with Randa...)
Does anyone have his contact details?

Lizajuk, I will be prepared, and was looking for the old thread to know more where he did not turn up. I cannot go to Egypt currently (long story) so I have to find an alternative, and maybe to take the risk, too. Well, I am already at the risky business with Randa, since she also was not able to get to Spain or Italy, and let's see first how it turns out.
but meanwhile, send here all the links to Tito, I found this today
http://nilegirl.wordpress.com/2007/04/23/74/
the nilegirl seems to mix Tarik Sultan and Tito, or what do you say?

Totally!!!I hate it when people just talk(or write)about a performer(any kind of talk)without making sure first they are talking about the correct person.
This nilegirl did not bother to look around much...,m::
And,no,i dont have a problem with Tarik, either.I like his dancing, too.

Be careful when you make arrangements to bring an Egyptian over to your country. Unfortunately, many of them have a tendency to sign a contract and either not show up or cancel at the last minute. I cannot confirm this, but I believe I heard that is what happened when Zsa Zsa Hassan scheduled Dandish to come to Hamburg, Germany. She just decided to not show up and apparently it was a devasting situation since all the tickets for the shows and workshops and everything had been booked. Also, regarding the Stockholm Belly Dance festival, didn't Raqia Hassan and Soraya unexpectedly cancel one year? I won't say who the vendor was but Randa has backed out of the first contract she signed!

Tito is an amazing dancer. And very inspiring. I had a chance to take a privat lesson with him in Sharm El Sheik before he became very busy with taking part at the Nile Group Festival and travelling all over the world all the time.
I just sow his perfomance at 1001 night club at Sharm and just fell in love ,r:; But have to say that he is not as good teacher... Very difficult to follow him when he dances. Some ballet experince woud be very helpful. I mean hi's good but for certain level I guess...

Just checked his "new" site. For some reason it has been closed. You can of course try the manager of spdf.
I must disagree on the point of his teaching. Most likely he has developed as a teacher the past years. I think he is a good teacher, choreographer and dancer. But then again I might just as well get the same feeling one day... ;)Last edited by fayzah; 06-16-2007 at 07:27 PM.

I also had heard that he is a performer and entertainer more than a teacher but had a class with him at Stockholm festival and it was just great.
Of course he uses the egyptian 'follow me' technique most which is most suitable for advanced level but I was completely happy with that. He has very clear and big movements that belong to my dance 'language', he just makes them faster, bigger, stronger and ... more timing differences I think.
It was a shaabi lesson but we made some oriental song combinations and it was a so called high energy class - luckily the last of the festival. And me and my friends really liked it and would like to take another class with him.
But have not found much info about his travelling agenda yet.
I even emailed him but he is at Nile Group currently, I think, so maybe it will take some time he gets back. Also have his phone number (thanks to Soheir) but will not call him yet because I may ask help from an arabic speaking friend.
so let's see what happens and inshallah he will come to Finland some day

first time when we brought Tito to Russia - i also thought he was not as brilliant as a teacher as he was as a dancer
but bringing him last year again - everyone noticed how much he has "grown up" as a teacher and his workshop was really enjoyable informative and supportive!

Nuringa, are there any plans to ask him to visit you again ? I have never visited Russia but I could easily.
ps. we are expecting to get Nour here ( was supposed to be this year but the baby postponed it) until next year.

oh i'll find out and post it here if someone will be bringing him!
huh - Russia is quite cheap to travel to from Finland - i remember visiting Masrah festival in 2002 and the bus from Snt Petersburg to Helsinki cost us 10$ only :)
Russian event sponsors don't make long prospective time tables - they'll announce visiting stars a month or two before the event usually. As for our festival "Assamblea" (i'm coorganizer together with Nour) it will be held in October 19-21 and we're bringing Ousama Emam, argentinian Saida, Nour and Yasser of course. And later in autumn we will be bringing Khaled Mahmoud.

Nuringa, let me know as soon as possible when Khaled in coming - I went to Estonia because of him so I am willing to come to Russia, too.
And Belle_Elen: I am sure that you just need a bit experience with the egyptian teachers if you are used to have a nice experienced and well trained teacher who kindly explains everything. I remember being very upset after my first lesson with my first Egyptian teacher meaning Sameh El-Dessaki (don't know proper writing of his name)
because I could not follow him. Since then, I have danced a lot, and in workshops I just "let is be as it is" not to try to change the teacher, I just to pick up what he/she has got for me.

To Heinakuu
I guess you are right... And I just need to get more experience. Besides the time when I couldn't follow him was when Tito was giving pretty fast saidi. I dis not practise this style as much as classical oriental. So while he already did 2 quick turns and and was standing in the position to do a hip drop with an assaya a lot of people were still finishing the first turn... LOL

Tito makes me proud to be Egyptian!! He is fantastic!!! Probably the best out there!! Well i think so - maily beacause i am not into all that tribal stuff. Its not really belly dancing!!!
I'm moving back to Egypt in 2 years so i'll definately have to track him down!!!

It's a shame Tito is not so reliable when booked. I would LOVE to see him live. The level of charisma I can see even on YouTube means he must be incredible! And I love his movement quality, especially his gorgeous little layered, Tahia-like shimmy.

Re: Tito Seif
thanks Veena07 -we are already in contact with him and will take our chances to get him here. Dates are not yet set but May-August 2009 is the time frame. We just need enough commitments first from local dancers. His schedule for 2009 is soon filling up!

Re: Tito Seif
For an Egyptian that doesn't speak any English he was a very good teacher when he came to the IBCC 2008 in Toronto.
He is a follow the bouncing butt teacher but he also demonstrates and counts the movements (he has enough English to do that) and his timing is very Egyptian as in he seems to be dragging behind the beat even though he always gets there in time. His style is a contrast of large sweeping movements to the very small, juicy subtle movements that characterize what I have come to recognize and understand as Egyptian style.
I do agree that his workshop material is more for high intermediate/advanced level dancers. In TO there were literally hundreds of us trying to see what he was doing, listen intently to his instructions and follow what he was doing. I barely had time to get the "blocking" and style of his choreography let alone get into the feeling of dancing it. One of my group videotaped the end when he danced the entire choreography so it's later, coming home, watching the videotape, muscle memory kicking in that you begin to absorb the texture and style of his dance. I am always two left feet in a workshop setting but I am pretty good at picking up and remembering subtle layers and things (for example he was doing hip drops across the floor at one point but almost everyone in the video is doing hip ups even though he clarified downs instead of ups and the juicy undulating ab/torso movement was missing in a lot of the participant dancers) and the added bonus of videotape is where I finally feel like I have learned something from the workshop.
I think he would be fantastic in a smaller, longer workshop setting.
Don't know anything about what it's like booking him.
