    Tito!

Oh man, I got to see Tito this weekend! Out of three days of workshops I was only able to make it to one, but it was definitely a fast, hard-drivin', sweat-producin' experience.

The show was just great. I loved it when he worked the crowd and danced on chairs among the audience. He's an amazingly high=energy performer, and besides that, I never realized before what a gorgeous man he is.

Jeanne, I wasn't able to go to the workshops, but did make the show. (After flying to LA that morn & driving to San Jose & then back to Sac afterwards, I might add...)

wow!! As I told a friend earlier today, his energy was palpable and filled the room. I had my husband there, which was kinda a weird experience with the whole lap dance thing, but he didn't get too weirded out. A very fun time! And now I need to do the workshops. Can you talk more about how those were?

I couldn't look the whole time. Maybe Jeanne will describe.

    Re: Tito!

Heh, heh. Well, he did sort of straddle someone's chair and dance over her, but I was too far in the back to be able to see very well what was going on. (How's that for a copout? I do remember thinking, though: Am I seeing what I think I'm seeing?)

Workshops: I only went on Saturday. He taught the choreography with veil and cane that he did in the show. (It was announced at one point that he was going to pick four people from the class to perform it with him, but we didn't get it all done until right before the end, so I guess he decided not to.) The music was very fast, so it was a real workout running it over and over. Contained some good moments to savor and remember for future use, like that one fast backbend thing that he did several times.

I went on sunday only - we did oriental choreography to a song and then drum solo. It was announced as a drum solo workshop but the drum solo took only last hour, and the previous 3 were spent on the song. But anyway, I LOVED it! as much as loved it last year. May be even more... cause I really was waiting for him the whole year!:)
    what a man!.... ohhhhhh!!!

I would love to have gone to that one. I would also love to have gone to the Friday one when he did shaabi. Ah well, can't have everything. Hopefully he'll be back.

I did the whole Tito weekend. It was great. I had a wonderful time, especially at the show. I still have a huge smile on my face from shimmying with him in the aisle Saturday night! The most amazing thing to me is that the man probably had more energy than most of us in the room, even though it is Ramadan, and he hadn't eaten or drank anything all day! What an amazing dancer and person.

Well have to admit that I left an hour early because at 7pm I had been at it for 13 hours that day (a very full work day, plus driving through Friday traffic from Oakland) and was running on empty. But he was great. The choreo was a lot take and it was a full house that night. I also have to admit that I was a bit stary-eyed that night as well, so perhaps I wasn't learning as much as I should. I did notice that the man is very detailed oriented in terms of correct poster, hand movements and little flares that finish off a move quite nicely.
