    Mohamed Shahin!

I really like that he uses female dancers in so many of his folkloric performances, you really don't get to see that very often. Im also ALWAYS impressed with whirling dervish!

Im thinking about bringing him down to do a workshop in the Philadelphia area next year...

Oh, gawd, I would love to take a loooong workshop with this guy. From the youtube clips I've seen of his workshops, he seems like a really talented choreographer, as well as a dancer. Kind of like Magdy but without quite that level of silliness.

He did a great workshop a few months back in Boston on raqs assaya--I really enjoyed it. He's a very good teacher, serious but also with a sense of humor. I purchased his meleya DVD after that workshop and would love to take that in person with him as well. As Damariz says, you won't regret sponsoring him or taking a workshop with him!

Oh... This guy wrote me an email asking me to host his workshop in Lisbon, but I didn't know who he was and in the meanwhile I deleted the email... ..c::

His workshops are fabulous. He just keeps on going and going and going, and never slacks off unless the people attending ask him too. I hope to see his show again when he next comes back to Chicago.

He's coming to NY in May. He has a performance scheduled for the 21st and a workshop focusing on Shaabi and Saiidi on the 24th. You can check with Gamila El Masri for more details or go to ASAMED

I took a private from Mohamed yesterday, he is an AMAZING teacher, patient yet firm and a bit of a perfectionist. If I had the funds I would take a lot more classes with him. If you have the opportunity jump on it, he is a wonderful teacher. ..g.:..g.:

Attended another workshop with him recently - he's really terrific. I wish I had taken the saiidi again but his sha'abi was so much fun.

I didn't see his Tanoura this year but you've got to see it at least once in your lifetime.

I was at both indeed. I stood more in the back. I'm short and East Asian.

I really liked his explanations and how he handled questions. I kinda wish we had a lecture or something from him.
