Morocco -wow!

I just got back from Celebrating dance, I did two workshops with the incredible Aunt Rocky, she is just amazing.

We danced for 6 hours pretty much non-stop, and she has so much energy she put us 'youngsters' to shame. Her dancing is lovely, and she is very knowledgeable, but most of all I love her energy, charisma, warmth, and wicked sense of humour.

When she danced in the evening performance I had tears in my eyes because she is so expressive and radiant. And I felt proud of her for being a strong and beautiful woman in her unconventional way. I am honoured to have met and studied with such a great human being.

Gushing over... I can't wait until next year!

Rocky has to be closed to 70 by this point. I went with her to Morocco many years ago. She had nice little surprises for us on the trip. Like, one night we had local musicians and a couple of days later, when we were shopping in a particular store, she had mint tea for us and the same musicians played for us as well. I also found out that she spent her early years in a concentration camp and that she had blonde curls ( hard to believe ). She's a tough lady, and she's had an amazing life.

After I took her workshop a couple of years ago, I came back to class telling people that I'd spent the weekend getting my ass thoroughly kicked by a nearly 70 year old woman. She is one of the most amazing and inspiring instructors I've had the privilege of workshopping with.
