I loooooove Dandash! She is so elegant, yet so laid-back. I think she "demands" attention, like Fifi does. They own the room! Unfortunately I haven`t found many videos with Dandash and now she stopped dancing as well :Acry:
I tried to contact her via Nile Group when I was in Cairo this spring but they never wrote me back. But after the summer, when I go back, I will stop at NOTHING to track her down for private lessons! ..l;,

Yep, I was going to mention that it had been posted before and that is when I ordered it! Well, Dandash along with Randa Kamel, Aida Nour, Yasmina, Mohamed Khazafy, etc, etc . . . oh, I got the 2006 one also so I am getting them all mixed up!! Serious viewing going on around here! And lots of fun stuff to watch . . . Dandash with the sagat player from the band getting up close and personal with their dueling cymbals during the baladi tableaux, LOL!!!

Yes, I have that DVD. Is great. I wonder if that is the last performance Dandesh gave? I haven't heard of her performing any time after that (niether abroad nor in Egypt).

This is a complaining post :(

a) Cant see the videos (yes I was at the actual workshop also) it appear only a green screan :(

b) she stoped danced, the photo with Tito was spontainious (was there also), Tito danced with his group the famous Manga Song, and at the part it says Dandasha, she stood up and started dancing with him !!!

c) I saw her at the June NileGroup at the Opening Gala, she was fabulus, have lost alot of weight, no hijab, straight black hair and gorgeous in total, we spoke about her workshop on Friday morning, where she was very sick and she didnt came :(((((((((

I have this video called Soiree in Cairo. Dina is on it. There was this young dancer on there that I loved. Especially when she danced to Sit El Hob in a red baladi. One of those magic moments when the dancer, the band and the audience are one. She danced about 4 times.The crowd was screaming her name, and it sounded like Danni. I've been wondering ever since if that is Dandesh? The clips I've seen kind of look like her but kind of don't. Of course she'd be about 7 years older.

Anyone know?

I have that video but haven't watched it in a long time. Are you referring to Camilia? I believe she is from Brazil. She has a web site. I think its cameliadanceart@tripod.com or something like that. Anyway, she left Brazil, went to Egypt to dance for several years and now she is living in TX. She may have actually returned back to Brazil, not sure. She does do like four costume changes and one of the costumes she wears is a red balady dress. She is slimmer than Dandesh. I don't know if she is the same age or younger. I do know that Dandesh is younger than Dina. Camelia may be about Dina's age.

I think it is Camelia not Dandesh. I didn't think it could be Dandesh but I was stumped as to who she was. I assumed she was Eygptian. I would never have guess she's from Brazil!

She's wonderful. I'm surprised she's not more well known.

We had a thread about this same thing last year. Apparently, there were two dancers named Camelia dancing in Egypt at the same time. One was Brazilian, and the other was Egyptian. Someone posted some really pretty pictures of the Egyptian Camelia, I just can´t remember who it was.

Regarding the Egyptian Camilia, there used to be nice pictures of her on the Nile Group website photo gallery for their first show. Regarding the Brazilian Camilia who recently lived in TX, then moved back to Brazil, she has many pictures of herself on her web site (although judging by the costumes, they appear very, very old). Yes, her performances on Soiree were very good.

We had a thread about this same thing last year. Apparently, there were two dancers named Camelia dancing in Egypt at the same time. One was Brazilian, and the other was Egyptian. Someone posted some really pretty pictures of the Egyptian Camelia, I just can´t remember who it was.

it has something to do with codecs - it means you need to install newer ones or just try viewing the page with different browser :( sorry for that

I've just read on Russian forum that Dandash has performed on the Closing Ceremony of Ahlan Wa Sahlan!!!! If it's true - maybe she's coming back on stage?!?

I didn't know that Dandesh performed at the closing ceremony of Ahlan Wa Sahlan. Well, if that's true, then she has left the Nile Group camp and has gone back to Raqia Hassan. Unfortunately, because of the competition, as a dancer, you can join one organization or the other, but you can't be in both. My understanding is that only Mahmoud Reda and Farida Fahmy can travel between the two camps!

Maybe she is coming back to the stage! That would be great as I heard she had received a lot of pressure to quite dancing because it wouldn't be proper as a mother to dance and the shame it would bring on her family, etc, etc, etc.

well if your observations of the competition are true - than it means that Asmahan has switched to Nile Group? i doubt so maybe some dancers can get away with being both here and there.

I know though that Mahmoud Reda wasn't teaching at last AWS festival though he was mentioned there - it was one of his student teaching his style workshop instead of him. And Farida is also not teaching at AWS.

But who knows - will see, it's so unpredictable and developping all the time.

And Randa was performing also at Nile Group's party this year - and Randa is definately from Raqia's camp

so maybe it's not so strict? i wish indeed it wasnt :)

very interesting to hear that there is now more mixing of teachers in
both events. That's much better!

Also I know that Mahmoud Reda is has still another event right now in Alexandria. My teacher Mohammed El-Hossany is there with a finnish group currently. There will be a show in the Alexandrian library where groups from Spain, France, Switzerland and Italy will dance Mr. Reda's choreographies over the past years. It may be that Mr. Reda had to skip AWS because of this event - as they are bringing the girls from other countries and the boys are dancers from his folk dance group there locally it may need some work to put it all together before the show. I am not completely sure about the dates, but it was in the beginning of July I think.

She is so simple in her dancing, but remains sexy and impactful. I absolutely adore her.
