Has anyone tried her instructional DVD's? Which ones and did you like them?

I haven't bought her instructional DVDs (though I really want to get them in the future and hope someone will chime in) but I did watch her and her troupe perform live a few months ago and they're spectacular. High energy and precision are the two words that come to mind. I really like how fluidly she moves. Just look at those arms.

Karen Barbee was probably my first belly dancer crush. As a baby dancer, I saw her perform in Salt Lake City in 2000 and she blew me away. Some dancer friends and I gushed for days about how precise her movements were, how beautiful she was, how athletic yet softly feminine her body was. Looking back, I think that what impressed me so much was that she was the first dancer I ever saw that did very precise, articulate, internalized hip technique.

Her precision and strength are amazing! I love to watch her dance and would love to get some of her technique into my body -- though we have very different styles and musical interpretation.

Sorry I can't comment on her videos (though I have a VHS of her 'no frillz drillz' around here somewhere) but I took a workshop with her last spring and really enjoyed her creative drills and combinations.
