    Leyla Jouvana and Roland!

I just went a 2-day workshop with these two and I have to say it was the best workshop I've ever been to!
Leyla is a great teacher and a true performer. She gives kind, good feedback and paced all four workshops very well. My brain was so full after the workshop and I came away with so many new ideas and thoughts about dancing. She really knows her stuff and so does Roland. He is a machine- he played for hours and hours and was so steady and great.
I've seen Leyla perform once on an IAMED video, but she was so incredible live. She has great facial expressions, thoughtful but fun choreographies, and survives well under pressure- she had 2 separate wardobe/prop issues (nothing to do with technique though) and music that died midway through and she barely batted an eyelash.
I'm at an intermediate level of dance and her workshop was great for me- she tought more subtle nuances and clarified problems that I have been having. It was just fabulous. So anyone who has a chance to study with her (and Roland) should definitely sign up!

hey, you must have been at the North Hampton workshop! I'm sorry we didn't get to meet, or did we?

    How would you know, right?

I was in the opening section doing a drum solo duet with Najmat (black lace eman costume), and then performed a solo cane piece, second dancer on, red bella. Did we meet or cross paths during the workshop?

    Hi Kina!
I was the dancer in the fuschia bedlah (more bra and skirt) in the open section (I think 6th). I was also admiring your Eman from backstage. You looked so relaxed out there! I wish there were more teachers and performing opportunities up in my neck of the woods so I could get as comfortable and technically accomplished! Nice to meet a fellow bhuzzer!

I only caught a glimpse of your show! You looked soooooo pretty in your costume, and from what I saw, dance beautifully! How nice to actually "meet" you!

    I wish I actually was relaxed, I'm not, even a little bit ..c:: I get very nervous, so I spend a lot of time fussing around the costuming ,r:;

Leyla Jouvana and Roland are very good.
If you want more of Leyla Jouvana and Roland.
They are back by popular demand in UK at Jewel of Yorkshire AKA JoY in April 2008.
Also Aida Noor will be teaching at the same festival plus many more great teachers.

    Hey,

i can really recommend Leyla as well.

for the european zill-shy dancers: she's the first ever teacher who has gotten me into actually ENJOYING playing zills, and i'd been resisting that for over ten years. it's the first time after a zill workshop that i came home saying; "right, i'm gonna practice!". and i have!

further i LOVE her rhythm workshops. who are usefull if you are looking for drum solo ideas, but also as a advanced dancer/teacher yourself to get some new ideas for teaching rhytm.

i have been also taking her technique classes, at her studio in duisburg, which again, as a teacher has given me heaps of new ideas/approaches and as a dancer/student some new layering challenges.

she's a great choreographer too, i really enjoy watching her troupe perform

and when you get the taste at a workshop in the UK, then don't be scared to come and take her weekends IN germany as well. there's dancers from several european countries that attend, and she speaks english and french fluently next to german and will translate everything/teach in english.
