Oooh fabulous, anybody know whats on the CD-it doesn't mention the track listing on the website.

I have both!

I like the CD a lot though it is unlikely you'll make it your new performance music, as it is taken straight from the mixing desk. Accordingly, the things that were miced are fairly clear, especially the vocals, but the percussion is quite muted. Both singers sound excellent (especially Hoda om Ruma who I totally RATE).

Hazihi Leylati (this is the Um Koulsoum number and also includes Randa's finale song. And is shiveringly delicious.)

The sound on the DVD is not as good as on the CD, but the quality of the footage is good - not excellent but good enough and nice and clear - and it's a fabulous memento. I especially like the galabeya tableau and of course Randa's bits.

Incidentally, that's not Sayed Amar on the CD promo when his name comes up. It's the zill playing man, who I think is called Sayed Tura. Sayed Amar is the dervish (who's also on the DVD!)

Doh! I was wondering why Sayed name was listed on the cover. The only Sayed I heard people rave about during the event was Sayed the zill guy.

BTW the Dervish dancer is on the DVD.

You were in the wrong corner then, cos those of us who did workshops with Sayed Amar were raving about him a lot. He's a superb dervish dancer. And also cute.
