Yousry workshop was AWESOME!!
He's just so fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed his workshop and I learned SO much! Our theatrical show drew a crowd of over 200, and we had a blast with our pharaoh, our harem ladies draped over pharaoh's platform as he perched high on the throne, and our fanning "servant men". I'm not gonna come down off this high for a long while!! I would just love to take from Yousry again!!

Re: Yousry workshop was AWESOME!!
I LOVE Yousry. His musical interpretation is just so detailed and rich, and his choreographies REALLY stretch me as a dancer. I think his style especially suits those who have classical dance background, but I've seen more folkloric-based dancers rock his work, too.
Hmmmm... I'm not usually a fan of harem scenes being associated with bellydance, so I don't know how much I would have enjoyed that aspect of the show... but 200 people is a terrific turnout!
So glad you had a great weekend.

Re: Yousry workshop was AWESOME!!
I took a cane and oriental from him in December, fantastic!! I want to do more cane with him
The oriental I learned at the time is gone, so sad! it was beautiful. I'd pay to have a video from someone who remembers!Last edited by EzmaSiddiqah; 06-17-2009 at 12:05 AM.

Re: Yousry workshop was AWESOME!!
myself and the ladies from my troupe took a workshop from him.. and we all loved him. His style is so different from others! As I have said to many others, "All I can say is Yousry just brought the funk".

Harem is really a misnomer I used...they were more like servants...they wore the white cleopatra-style gowns and head dresses like you see in Ancient Egyptian art, not "harem" (as in I Dream of Jeanie) outfits.
