as much as i like didem (and her fabulous bellas...drool!) i like tanyelis style a little more. she seems like she's been classically trained because of the way she carries herself and her posture which is something that has always irked me just a little bit about didem whos arms sometimes tend to wail around. but i like didem's unique-ness too tho.

I like Tanyeli too. Dancers like Asena and Zumre make me bored. I feel they are just parading their assets and not dancing. Tanyeli is lovely dancer. I also love Tulay. They are both great.

I dont think Asena and Zumre are dancers they were more show girls type with some singing and dancing talent...they are not trained dancers...

I think she is amazing she is nearly 40 years old and has been dancing for years. She is clearly one of, if not the best from turkey. I work for 2 Turkish restaurants here and the owners are best friends with her. She comes to Australia every 6 months she loves it here. She owns her own nighclubs in Turkey. So just not a pretty face!! she is a good business woman. Apparently she makes a lot of money with her nightclubs in Turkey and the nightclubs have of course the best belly dancers in turkey working there.

I agree - Asena and Zümre are definitely very cheap style dancers. Sadly, they seem to come up every time one speaks about bellydance in Turkey. I used to not like Didem's dancing a lot (mechanical, strange arms, little knowledge or feeling for the music except for Romany style) - but I've grown to like her quite a lot recently.
Tanyeli and Hale Sultan are AMAZING oriental dancers. Really good!

By the way, she's got amazing personality, strength and irony about herself, too.
She used to have a nose job "gone too far" some years ago.
Other celebs deny it or make up ridiculous medical reasons, particularly in Islamic societies (one says it is a statistical miracle so many of the Saudi upper class girls have had their nose damaged in "car accidents" and needed reconstruction..).

Instead of doing that, she said something very ironic about herself, something like "I was not happy with what I was blessed with, now I have a "dog's" nose - it must be God's punishment, and I have to live with it, and educate people on how they should not do what I did".
Sorry for her that this happened to her, but she must be an amazing woman saying something like that in the media! very strong woman.

The Tanyeli performance on the disc is just under 40 mins. There are 2 songs she sings, 5 songs she dances to and there is a chorus line act when Tanyeli is doing a costume change.

The main concert is 1h20min.

I agree, Tanyeli is one of my favorite Turkish dancers after Tulay. She has more control and poise than most from her training. And she's lovely and not too damn stick skinny! I like to see hips on a belly dancer! (even if I dont' have any myself lol!)

Yes indeed the DVD is for sale to the public. It is $30 plus postage and handling. I just got off the phone with the organiser. Below is an order form however it only shows the postage for local Australian delivery.

The organiser said that postage to New Zealand is $10AUD and the rest of the world $13AUD. So at today's exchange rate it is $10.87USD to send to Europe and the US/Canada.

Hopefully the organiser can update the order form soon to include international postage costs.

I never heard of her before but she's fantastic. And her costumes are beautiful - and she has such a great body for wearing them too. Can't believe she's 40 either!
