    Hi Bahaia,

I think you were in the Aida class I took at IBDC...the Oriental one on Tuesday. She danced with you and another girl at the end of class. You were awesome!!! I can't wait to see your videos; I thought it was so nice of her to allow videotaping

Aida is not only a beautiful dancer, but she's also a beautiful, friendly, kind woman.

Well, I am another Aida-Geek and I created a page for Aida on my website. Bahaia and i were laughing about that at IBDC. I have some slideshows of photos I took of Aida at 2 different workshops (LA and Dallas). So I guess I can add a few more from IBDC . . . not sure if I can post video on my page but I cherish all the ones that I took in the 3 classes that I attended . . . great material there! I just wish I had my own dancing man to accompany me as Khazafy did for Aida at the end of that class on Wednesday!

    I LOVE Aida!

Have I said it enough now???

Oh, I have to be a bigger fan than Bahaia, hehe!! I know I am definitely wider . . .

She was such a pleasure to work with at the IBDC, very gracious and thankful for having assigned assistants to run her music! She is definately a favorite by the IBDC staff!! Plan on Aida back next year!

what kind of melaya dance she was teaching - was it with her typical 'clapping to the ground when doing the big circle?' with kind of a dramatic music? I also love her a lot, and miss her, met her in Stockholm in May and do not know :Asad:where to study with her again.

Yes, she did the clap and big hip circle . . . the music is more dramatic than the typical melaya.

You will just have to go to the Nile Group Festival!! I think I am going in April . .. got my fingers crossed. I am sending out thoughts to a friend of my who has never been to Egypt . . . and just took a workshop with Mahmoud Reda for the first time, hehe, and he recommended Nile Group!

I didn't get to take any of her workshops at the IBDC (I had to work, and I was performing during one of them)...but she walked by me and I almost fell over I was so star-struck.

and I don't get star-struck! I see "big stars" in my office a lot...but get me around a Belly Dance Star like Aida...I'm done for.

    Next year!!!!! :)

Ps, the DVD that Yasmina Ramzy put out of Aida's performance in Canada a couple years ago is to DIE for. I highly recommend it. Highly highly recommend it... "Legendary Aida Nour" is the title. :)

LOL, I have that DVD plus the one from the Farha tour (lots on that DVD) and, of course, DVDs from when Aida was brought by Little Egypt (so long ago now, ..cr.: ).

Gotta keep getting my "Aida" fix!

I might be sort of opening a can of worms here, but... I just watched this DVD last night, having purchased it from Yasmina Ramzy over the weekend. I agree with all the wonderful things people say here about Aida's dancing--full of vibrancy, life and joy. I heartily enjoyed the first part of the DVD. The Umm Khoulthum section, though, left me rather confused. Maybe I'm being culturally sensitive in an overcompensating way, but I was a little shocked by her pretty raunchy treatment of those classic songs, which we are always taught mean emotionally so much to Arabic people. Did the way she danced to them in any way reflect the norm these days? Or is it a case of "Oh, that's Aida for you?"

    baffled in Boston,

    Badriya
