    Delila of Cairo

We talked about her last year (remember the suspender costume) butit looks like she's developing her own style. I definitely see the Dina, Randa influence still but more accesible. What doyou guys think? I really like her alot.

This performance looks like straight Dina but it's good

    Re: Delila of Cairo

when I first saw her I thought she was a total Dina clone, and it annoyed me. But I do like some of the newer stuff I've seen from her (she has some good clips up from the recent ahlan wa sahlan festival on youtube).

She has great stage presence, and even though she still does a lot of very "Dina-esque" stuff, I think she has a broader repertoire of movements in her performances now aside from the usual classic Dina moves.

    Hi,

Just a quick question, what makes her 'Of Cairo'?

Does she live and perform in Cairo?

Not sure where she performs now about a year ago she was at the Pyramisa when I was stopping there. Didn't see her though because we went to see Dina instead. She works with Raqia on her designs a lot and has danced at Ahlan wa Sahlan either opening or closing not sure which.

    Here's her website - Biografía

She was on the Nile Maxim boat and at the Semiramis for a while, I remember she was there in January.

I thought she was from spain?
anyhow, I'm so glad to see her evolution of coming into her own. originally, I thought she was amazing, but a closer clone to Dina I had never seen. I felt no real desire to watch her as opposed to the real thing. Now I see more influences: of Randa & Soraya, even. But I also see some of her own personality & it all makes for a more unique style. I really enjoy her dancing now.

Wow I really thought she was Egyptian. I like her even more now. And I understand why she mimicked so seriously at first. I'm sure she wanted to dance Egyptian and at first the only way to do that is to mimick the greats. I'm excited to see how she'll continue to grow.

I feel like in the older clips ive seen of her she was a lot less Dina like. Now shes a total copy of Dina, in the second clip shes wearing an almost identical copy of one of Dina's costumes. I dont think it looks good on her (the dancing that is) :(

I'm totally with Vasha on this. with the second clip and the third, the costume (Dina + Michael Jackson gloves?) looks like it's bought straight from Dina herself. Too much of the look-alike thing.
Dina is a very inspiring dancer but I feel sad to see someone using her codes and body language to such an extent. Dance must come from within. For the clips posted I don't see a strong individual dancer there. Passion is the fashion, maybe... but there's only one Dina!

Haven't we all learned by copying other dancers at various levels? We've all stood behind a teacher learning to do a maya and a shimmy at the very least.

I know she's taken some of Dina's moves here, and it is honestly overkill... but I know for myself, that I copy many, many moves from many different dancers. Once I feel I've mastered them, I start to morph them and make them my own. Once I'm done with them, they may, or may not be recognizable... I honestly think it's part of the learning curve.

I guess it's a good example of why we should study with a variety of teachers. Nobody wants to be a carbon copy.

She's lovely, and I'm willing to bet she becomes a dancer in her own, unique right within the next couple of years.

If you look up her more recent clips up on youtube (the ones from ahlan we sahlan), you can see she's already developing more of her own style..
I think we're lucky to feature her in Amsterdam this December!

    Re: Delila of Cairo

Dalila she is still the best copy of dina i have ever seen ..c::
But dina is dina, and she is unique
    She copy the costumes,the steps,the attitude,everything!
i wonder how she can do that, knowing that everybody knows from where she got all the steps and attitude...everybody knows dina .w.: she is not disturbed by this fact!!!!!!!

when she will have her own style????
anyway, people like her like that...why changing?

she is going to the nile group now to perform and teatch

the more recent clip of her(dina always dina...and a little bit of soraia lol)

    Re: Delila of Cairo

I saw her dance in Amsterdam last december, and despite her dancing a lot like Dina I really enjoyed watching the show. But I have to admit, Randa Kamel - who came on later that night- made me forget about Dalila because she impressed me a whole lot more. I would love to see her again in a few years, to see if has grown towards a style that is less Dina and more Dalila.
