Glad to see Judeen mentioned by a few folks. I love her. Just fyi (and because I like family trees!), her first instructor, a long time ago, was Leea (who I referenced above)

Kamaal was an early student of Leea's, too. Is he teaching anywhere (LA?) these days?

I hear that he retired and then I also hear that he's still teaching. I hope that Kamaal's still teaching.

Angela Buttrey is a pro from way back who does not get the notoriety she deserves.

Kamaal's still teaching - but VERY limited. Mostly on the ANAS cruise. One that hasn't been mentioned yet is the Mighty Siwa: Siwa ~ Mistress of the Dance

Isn't that the way it always goes? Is she still teaching/performing?

Yes, she teaches in Los Angeles ( she spends the summers in Greece where she is from). I am sure she has retired from performing, but teaches workshops in both old-style cabaret and Egyptian.
    Here is her website,

Hard to believe that Dahlena was teaching back in the 60's! In her recent pics, she looks about 40 years old max.

Sigh my instructor doesn't advertise via web. ..cr.:

She doesn't perform any more either, but she still teaches and is part of the Lebanese community in my area.

Holy crap! I just googled her name and her dance school is on pages and pages of listings. How did that happen? lmao!

Me too!!! I was really blown away when I saw her performances on Youtube. That's the kind of "American Classic" dance that makes me proud to be an American!

Found a video of "Little Egypt" (modern day)

From the campy 1960s Batman series, episode where Penguin runs for mayor of Gotham City and his idea of a campaign rally...

I admit I'm happy that I found (finally!) that clip. Pretty much none of the Batman series has ever been released on DVD.

I was a precocious kid of age 11 or 12 when I saw it. Don't know why it stuck with me but I'm glad it did. It was fun and energetic and sexy and offbeat (with Paul Revere and the Raiders giving her live music).

I wonder how many takes it took to get that scene down right :D.

I am sad noone mentioned Morwenna Assaf, she is truly the gem, lives in San Diego now. She knows Dahlena and all others in East Coast from late 70s and 80s and 90s.
My teacher Morwenna studied over 20 some years with late Legend Ibrahim Farrah and she knows most Mahmoud Reda Choerographies as she teaches us. She is also bringing Mahmoud Reda to California, next workshop will be in August 27-28, 2010 if you like to San Diego, CA.
her website Art & Dance Academy, Oceanside, Belly Dancing Lessons
they have clips on youtube as well.
Her husband is a professional Lebanese drummer studied with Setrak back in Lebanon.

And if you have URLs for their websites (if applicable), please include.
