Danny Elfman - deserves a fan thread

I remember thoroughly enjoying Oingo Boingo's Dead Man's Party at a childhood birthday party and as I grew up Danny Elfman has been a big part of my life, writing the soundtrack to several of my favorite movies, sometimes it felt like he was writing the soundtrack to my life.

As I came across this haunting melody this morning I wanted to take a moment to pay tribute to one of my favorite ever musicians and composers. Danny Elfman, I love you man.

Great tribute, Shems! It's easy to forget, or to even learn about, the people behind the scenes that make a movie enjoyable. Danny Elfman has scored tons of movies guaranteed to have been heard by everyone at least once and yet not a lot of movie goers know who he is. Even though actors do wonderful job on the screen it's composers like Danny Elfman that get us emotional invested.

Funny you should mention him, I saw a link to an interview with him that you can download to your mp3 player at: Elfman's 55? Why, he's only a lad!

This blog is great for fans of all things 80s...I was drawn to it the other day by it's interview with Stewart Copeland (about his recently released autobiography) and you may recall that Danny was linked with the Copelands via Stewart's big brother Miles Copeland ...ok, stop me now...I'm a bit of a freak for this sort of stuff I could go on forever

Yep, I loved oingo boingo as a child too then I remember starting to see his name all over the place and felt the kind of pride you feel when a 'friend' makes it big. His music is so woven into the fabric of the good times of my childhood its hard to even separate the two. I'm also a huge Echo & the bunnyman fan! Thanks for posting Shems!

I met Danny and his wife several years ago. I didn't realize he was 10 years older than me! But he was a nice guy and obviously in love with his wife! Gotta love that!

Indeed, he is a very talented person. I don't think that a lot of people correlate him with composing and Oingo Boingo though.
