OMG!!! Talk about a flash back! Beata and Horacio were in Seattle for a show when I first started dancing and this was the exact splits/shimmy he did then. I still talk about that move to this day! He has such power...still there's nothing that can beat seeing that move live!

Yes! I have! In Edmonton last year (oh wait, maybe two years ago?) - he did the splits while shimmying with his back to the audience while balancing a tray of candles on his head and playing zills.

Tomasz says he saw a bellydancer on TV as a boy while watching a movie with Indian dance in it. He found it incredibly exciting and great. He had already done some dancing, and thought he would like to try belldance. He found the movement of oriental dance fascinating- that a person can move so many body parts separately from each other, and naturally also the erotic vibe that the dance has for him, and also the music. As a man, to dance without a womanly chest [?? sounded like what he said- I think he is referring to the female body form, in general], it is not easy. You have to dance better as a man than you would to get the same results a woman would get. You have to make your movements more noticeable. Men dance differently. That's all there is to it. It is incredibly difficult to make a living from dancing. He then says he has given up his job as a photographer and is ... [ I couldn't understand this last part- it was kind of garbled.]

What was the story with Tomasz dressing up as a woman though? was that explained at all?

He says that the dance is surely made for women, and was first done by women. He says, at a time in the Orient and Islam, when women were not going out into public, men started performing the dance, dressed as women.
