    Re: JOANA,dancer in cairo

Well, yes, she has a very personal style... Some people like it, some people prefer other styles, which I think is normal in belly dance.
Probably the most evident Reda's influences in Joana's dance are those of "raks al assaya", that she does pretty well and which is my favourite of hers.

Off topic: I added you as friend on Facebook. Thanks for having accepted my request!

I have to say, the mind boggles over the Reda connection!!! .w.: I just totally fail to see it.. my word, she must be skilled to separate the two styles so easily.

Usually Reda is stamped on a dancer from top to toe.
Ohhh I just have to post the video of the class !!! with Reda, Joanna and Nesrin !!!

There was definitely a Joana from I think Portugal assisting Reda in 2008 when he came to Brighton Orient.

    Dear Ana,

Yes I did actually took a different career path, I do not dance in hotels or boats anymore, I am dancing mostly in weddings and I took that decision when I saw what is going on in Cairo bellydance world.

For me its more inportant my mental health and love for my dancing and continuing dancing as an art form as I truly believe oriental dance really suppose to be, I rather be in a party, or training Foreign, Egyptian or any other nationnality.

Life means a lot as Oriental dance means Art :)

    Miss you all

I've already watched her performing many times, in Lisbon, and this summer I've seen her dancing at the Nile Maxim too. And yes, what you see is what you get. She's very emotive and quite a show woman. Yes, she was (and I think she still is) one of Mahmoud Reda's assistants.

    Re: JOANA,dancer in cairo

Can't believe I have only just discovered Joana tonight via Youtube, then read some of her blog. I was also surprised that she has Reda connections and has worked with him because I love her rawness. I like her relaxed style which I find missing so much these days.
As much as I appreciate Reda and the polish of modern day dancers I really miss the casual edge of yesteryear's dancers. I'm pleased to see that it hasn't completely disappeared.

ETA; I would never have guessed it, just watched Joana on my Reda technique dvd, quite a contrast to her performance vids.
