Love her! she is a sweet person and in my opinion one of the best modern belly dancers around. So creative and expressive!

I am a big fan of Mercedes. It's funny, when I was in Egypt a few girls and I made friends with a taxi driver who also tended a shop next door, so he took us pretty much everywhere for the last few days of my trip. On the way to Hanan's I asked him who his favorite dancer was, expecting Samia or Dina or something out of his mouth, and he said with a huge grin, "do you know Mercedes??" I'd heard of her, but as soon as I got home I looked her up and could easily see the appeal.

She's so creative and emotional (and beautiful!), I've literally watched her for hours on end.

I ADORE this woman. She's so incredibly creative in her movements yet very emotional and connected to the audience. And being the fan girl that I am, I friended her on FB and sent her a message saying how much I admired her and that I hope to take workshops from her in the near future, and she actually replied, totally sweet and all. Idk, maybe it's the kid in me, but I just love when 'stars' do that. She seems very down to earth.

Anywho, when I see her dance I stop breathing, too. Like I don't even want to blink so I don't miss anything. And she is so beautiful, I swear she could get on stage wearing a potato sack and no makeup and still look great.

I'll join the praise-Mercedes-party too! I was lucky enough to see Mercedes perform a lot during the last year, and I also went to quite a few of her workshops. She is indeed very friendly and happy and nice in person. And as a dancer, she is very passionate and has her own style. She has a great technique - very demanding, very "her".

I also have a few DVDs from her studio's shows. And when I look at her student groups perform, I see that she also puts a lot of thought and effort into that - the chorographies, the costumes, the formations are all very well thought-through.

I've been a big Mercedes fan for a couple of years now, and was thrilled that she came to Amsterdam last June.

I took a workshop with her, which was great, and I loved every of the 4 shows she danced. She is also very sweet, giving and humble!
